Shelf Love 2015 Challenge

Show Your Shelves Some Love, No Book Buying Challenge 2015

This is my tracking post for the Shelf Love 2015 Challenge, hosted by Second Run Reviews and Chapter Break. For more details and all the rules, go here.

My Goals

Thankfully, we don’t have to completely stop acquiring books to do this challenge! Phew! But I’m going to get really strict with myself and add in just a few ways to earn some book buying money. My Goal is to read 75 books from my shelves
Here’s my 2015 budget:

  • Audible Membership: $149.50 (yearly plan, downgraded from last year’s platinum plan)
  • Giveaways: $150 (I realized I need to set a limit for myself on this too)
  • Purchases: gift cards + money earned through rewards

That’s right – I’m not budgeting ANY money for buying new books! I already have some gift card money and anticipate more after Christmas. That will be the main way I can buy books. But I can also earn money by doing a few things:

  • $1.00 for every week I average 10,000 steps/day
  • $1.00 for every week I keep my food journal
  • $1.00 for every week I write 2,500 words (500/day)
  • $5.00 for every month I don’t spend money on a book.
  • $5.00 for every series I finish/catch up on
  • $0.10 for every book I read from the library
  • $0.10 for every book I read that I owned in 2014

Oh, it’s from goodreads. If you go to the widgets area and scroll down to the one that is just the covers (I forget exactly what its called) and then you pick the shelf you want to pull from (I created one for this challenge) and set the number of books (I did 200 so I wouldn’t have to ever update). Then copy the code and you’re good to go!
