In the steamy and suspenseful sequel to Sugar Daddy, a heartbreaking rift threatens to unravel a dangerous alliance... and a fragile new love.

After posing as an escort for the Sugar Bowl online dating service, Sela Halstead is looking for one thing: payback. She's closing in on the site's heartless founder, Jonathon Townsend, and she needs Beckett North, Townsend's business partner and her lover, by her side. She'd thought that their intimate nights together had forged an unbreakable bond, but after a shocking betrayal, Sela begins to doubt the brilliant bad boy. When push comes to shove, can she trust Beck to do the right thing?

Now that he understands the truth, Beck will stop at nothing to secure the reckoning Sela deserves. But between his desire for her and his disgust for JT, Beck doesn't exactly have a lot of control over his emotional state. Left with no other choice, he must summon all his discipline to maintain JT's trust and pretend that they're still friends. But how far will Beck go to prove his loyalty to Sela? He nearly lost her once. To keep her, Beck might have to kill for her.

Note: Sugar Rush ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck's story concludes in Sugar Free!

Another home run, another cliff, and another gah! Why can’t I start the next one right now?!!? I loved Sugar Rush as much, if not more than Sugar Daddy.

What Worked:

  • Characters. I love the relationship between Sela and Beckett. I was really worried about the connection to JT and even though it’s not pretty, it was a relief.
  • Narration. gah! Christian Fox will you please narrate the PHONE BOOK? Amazing narration – the two narrators – Christian Fox and Lucy Rivers – compliment each other well. I frequently didn’t even notice the transition and when I did, it was just because I love Christian Fox so much!
  • The story. Geez, how does Sawyer Bennett think of this stuff ? One revelation in particular has my gut turning. And holy hell, what just happened?
  • The issues – I continue to love the way this trilogy deals with the issue of rape. It’s confronting the big issues – victim guilt, victim blame, children of rape, difficulty of proof… just way to go! *applause*

What could have worked better:

  • I could be reading book 3 now… (Which I have in my possession BTW, just have too many books on my must read list… grrr!)….aka, I’ve got nothing!

Even though this trilogy deals somewhat graphically with rape, I think it does so in a way that puts the horror of it where it belongs, front and center. Our society has a long way to go in how it deals with rape and I think stories like this one are an important part of making that progress. Loved every minute and can’t wait until I can read more!

    Woohoo! I’m so happy you finally got to this one, Berls, and loved it. You’re gonna love the finale as well. And yes, I want Christian Fox to just narrate my day!!!! Gah! I love him so much. (I was complaining about a male narrator recently and Denise told me my problem was just that I’ve been Sebastian York-ified and Christian Fox-ified! LOL) I can’t wait for you to get to the next one. But I understand having too many books ahead of it. Luckily I listened to 2 and 3 back-to-back.
    Happy Friday, my friend!!! Hope it’s fab! {{{BIG HUGS}}}
