December 14, 2014 Sunday Post 40

Welcome to the 67th Edition of My Sunday Post!
Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

News at Home

I had a pretty good week at home. My mom finished Buffy’s coat on Monday and it’s so darn cute! It’s reversible – one side is for when it’s raining out and one is just a light weight jacket. I have to say, she’s super comfortable in it and it’s so well made I seriously think my mom should consider selling custom pet clothes!

Raincoat side. Look at the details!

She’s so comfy in it! And this is more the color 🙂

The reverse side, so cute for slightly chilly days!

Again look at the details!

I don’t know about ya’ll, but I was pretty impressed that my mom was able to make the coat in just 3 days! I, on the other hand, have been doing my knitting and loving it – despite being much slower. I have only finished 1 thing, which I did just for practice and unraveled. Now I’m working on a real project to keep. I’ve been gobbling up Jane Eyre this week, listening to a free Librivox dramatic recording while knitting. I’m also almost done Christmas shopping and the area under our tree is looking less empty.

Our Tree, since some asked last week 🙂

As fast as I’m reading Jane Eyre, I making no progress on my physical read. I like it, but I just can’t seem to find time to sit down and read – I’m in an audio mood I guess!

Christmas Story
If you missed it, stop by the Christmas Giveaway & Scavenger Hunt I joined in on this past week – its called “A Christmas Story” because we’re all sharing a Christmas Story – it can be a memory, an excerpt from a favorite book, or – like I did – something fictional you write. I shared a little bit of my characters from the short story I’ll be publishing soon 🙂

Your mom should totally sell those jackets, Berls! That is absolutely adorable!! Buffy looks quite the fashionista! 😉 And only 3 days?? Yeah, I can’t imagine. I can sew but not much. I’m glad you’re enjoying Jane Eyre and knitting! I was telling my hubs about listening to a book so I can knit at the same time. He said that’s a great idea so long as he’s not sitting next to me trying to talk! 😉 I have a few projects I’d like to finish so I can give them as Christmas gifts but I don’t know if it’ll happen. I’m such a procrastinator. I did do most of my shopping yesterday…online while it snowed.

Anyway, Happy Monday! I hope your week is smashing! 🙂

I’m telling her everyone seems to agree with me! She’s reading Dragonfly in Amber right now, though, so anything else I talk about goes in one ear and out the other lol!

Knitting while listening to an eBook is the perfect combination for me! I grab the needles whenever I can, because I’m trying to finish something for Christmas. I have 10 days right?!?!

      Happy Monday!

  2. Lark

Buffy is rocking that coat, and your mom rocks for making it for her! And I didn’t know you had started knitting – it’s my other hobby (besides reading and blogging.) Are you on Ravelry? If not, check it out – it’s a social site for knitters and crocheters; a place to organize your stash, projects, and needles/hooks; the place to find patterns; and a lot more. (And it’s free!) I’m on there as Lady-Lark; come find me!

Have a great week and enjoy the countdown to Christmas!

      Thanks, I’ll tell her 🙂

I love Jane Eyre – if you love it, you should go to Librivox and download the free dramatic performance – its so good!

      Anyway, have a great week!

    • Berls

      Haha Buffy hates the rain too, but she seems to realize that this is keeping her dry for the most part. She does try to shake off the water in it, and that’s just too funny;

    • Berls

Thanks Bea, its certainly a good feeling 🙂 I just love the coat and so does Buffy – so it’s a win in my book! I hope she’ll consider selling !

      Have a great week Bea!

    • Berls

Thanks Kimba – I just love having a Christmas tree up 🙂 I’m blown away by the coat my mom made, it fits Buffy so well!

I know what you mean, adding books is not always a good thing LOL! Have a great week!

  3. A Voracious Reader

Looks to me like Buffy is stylin’! *two thumbs up* I need to finish my shopping and get shit wrapped. I wish I had elves to do this crap for me. LOL We’ll be making cookies when the kids get out of school. Last day is the 19th then they can help with that. 🙂

Lol if we lived closer I’d wrap for you, I love wrapping presents 🙂 I put on Christmas music and pretty much turn into an elf LOL. A 5’11.5″ elf 😛

    • Berls

Thanks Laura! Yeah, people spend serious money on their pets – way more than I ever would, though I love her. I need to find that book, it sounds like a fun one!

      Have a great week!

That coat is so cute! If your mom could figure out how to do the coat on Etsy and make it profitable that would be cool. People spend IN THE BILLIONS on costumes and clothes for their pets. It’s well over a billion for Halloween alone. So for quality stuff?
My friend’s son started something called the pet vet mat so people’s dogs wouldn’t have to sit on a cold table at the vet. It took a while but he finally got an order for thousands of them. It’s great when hard work and ingenuity pays off.

Oh that is a smart idea – and he sold thousands? Wow! That’s great! I think my mom could do amazing – she’d have to get herself known and that could take a while, but I think she would have plenty of word of mouth business because she does such quality work!

  5. Lola

That coat looks awesome, your mom really has a knack for making pet clothes! And in just 3 days that’s impressive! And I am happy Buffy likes it, she looks comfortable in her jacket.

Nice picture of your christmas tree! We have a small fake christmas tree, but no one put it up yet, not sure we will.

I had so much fun stopping by everyone’s christmas scavenger hunt post and I collected all the answers :). My Coyer winter challenge post will be up this week, I am so excited for Coyer to start!

She really does, doesn’t she!? I think she should considering selling, but so far she doesn’t sound like she wants to.

This is our first year having a tree in over three years, because we were always gone for Christmas while we lived in St. Louis. It does a lot for the Christmas spirit for me. I’m glad you enjoyed the scavenger hunt! So ready for COYER:) have a great week Lola!

  6. Stormi

Wow, your mom made that..awesome! My dogs don’t really care for jackets as a matter of fact Squirt lays down and won’t move if you put one on’s like all of a sudden she forgot how to walk…lol. Take it off and there she goes, put it on and

I love Jane Eyre but never listened to an audio version, I love the movies too. 🙂 It was the first classic book I ever read.

    Enjoy your week!

    • Berls

Omg I’m lmao at Squirt! That’s too funny! Buffy’s been wearing coats since before she was one, so she’s totally used to them. And I only put them on when the weather calls for it.

Jane Eyre was my second I think and oh so good! I’m loving the audio because they have different people for each voice.

      Have a great week Stormi!

    • Berls

Haha do you not put Dexter in clothes? Buffy had been wearing coats and such for her walks since she was less than a year old, so she’s so used to it 🙂

Listening to books while knitting/crocheting is so awesome! You must do it!!

  7. Lexxie

The coat for Buffy is amazing, Berls! And so nice to know your mom made it. I’m sure Buffy will not be cold this winter 🙂
Your tree looks good, too – we finally put our tree up this morning, but it’s all empty yet, as we haven’t bought a single present yet. I guess I better get busy next week, eh?
I have to check if I can get my hands on some classics to listen to, as well. I recently listened to part of the Faerie Queene, but the narrators (yeah, they changed every canto or so) spoke so slowly I almost went mad – so I read it myself instead.
Have a fantastic week! I’m so excited about COYER I can hardly wait for it to start.

Isn’t it great?! She’s planning another one for her too 🙂

Have you checked out Librivox? They have free audio – some are great, though some not so much. But for most classics there’s several different recordings to listen to.

Good luck with your Christmas shopping! Have a great week Lexxie!

  8. Greg

Your tree looks good! I have more shopping to do but we have a few gifts. We did do some shopping today so that helps. I liked your story- the characters were interesting and it left me curious for more. I definitely want to read your story when it comes out.

Looking forward to COYER. Have a great week. 🙂

Thanks Greg! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Good luck finishing the Christmas shopping – sounds like you’re in better shape than I usually am! Have a great week – looking forward to COYER kick off 🙂

    • Berls

Thanks! Our tree is skinny, but that’s a good thing because we don’t have much space lol! I love the coat – I find myself wishing it would rain 🙂 anywho, have a great week!
