Hello again! It's me, Stevie Cartwright, ex-witch and new Madam Zoltar. I was fresh off the murder-suspect list and just settling into Madam Z's psychic medium shoes-with the help of my bat familiar Belfry and spirit spy Win-when another death rocked sleepy little Ebenezer Falls, Washington state. Tito Bustamante, my beloved purveyor of mouth-watering Mexican munchies, has been found dead in the food truck court. Rumor has it that Tito was stickin' his chimichanga where it didn't belong, and my gut-not to mention his less-than-natural death-says murder. No one is above suspicion. Not Tito's own wife and daughter, not his arch food truck enemy Jacob, and certainly not the son Tito didn't know about, newly arrived in Ebenezer Falls and getting cozy with my hired help. Do join me (and try not to point and laugh) as I juggle catching a killer, snooping for clues about Win's previous life, gabbing with and eavesdropping on the locals, and enduring a visit from my very unwelcome, very annoyingly gorgeous ex-coven leader-all while continuing to adjust to my new witchless existence.

Another fun one! With Quit Your Witchin’ I’m growing to like the characters more and more. I think I’m getting to know them better than the first book allowed and that’s gone a long way towards liking them.

I’m really curious about Win, Stevie’s ghostly side-kick, and his history. Thanks to a visit from her used-to-be leader, Babba Yaga (BY for short, love that!), I’m a little more uncertain about him. BY’s interest and knowledge of him has me curious. Why has he connected himself to Stevie? Also – and this could be because of the narration -I’m trying to get a feel for his age… is he significantly older than her? Or are we talking relationship material? I know she’s dating someone, but the relationship between her and Win feels potentially romantic. IDK what to think about it. Especially since the person she’s dating doesn’t feel like anything is really happening there.

The mystery in Quit Your Witchin’ was a good one. I like that you could figure it out ahead of Stevie if you were paying close enough attention – I wasn’t and I always kind of suck at solving mysteries – and I also love that Stevie continues to get herself into massive amounts of trouble.

I’m still struggling with the idea that Stevie, who frequently comments about being out of shape, is able to do some of the things she does simply because of good direction from a former spy and adrenaline. It’s entertaining, just a little unbelievable.

Love the new pet, which you’ll have to read Quite your Witchin’ to learn abou 🙂 and I’m very curious about what’s happening with her magic. Look forward to more and what’s to come on the magic front for sure.

I’m still enjoying the narrator, Hollie Jackson. She does a good job with the voices and I just love Belfrey, the bat’s voice. An A narrator, for sure 🙂

    I’m happy you’re enjoying this series so far, Berls, despite not having a real good “feel” for all the characters. I think that might kinda bother me but at least you felt you got to know them all a little better in this installment. You do have me curious about them all. Is there an overall story arc? Can you tell yet? Anyway, I look forward to seeing what you think of the next one. 🙂
    Happy Friday, my friend!! You’ve made it to the weekend. (well, almost) I hope you have a fabulous day!!! {{{HUGS}}}
