It’s Monday! What I’m Reading January 9, 2017

January 9, 2017 It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 22

its-monday-what-are-you-reading
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!The Book Date

I just finished…

Wake of Vultures
One I would never have picked up without book club and I’m really glad I did. I think it’s getting 4.5 stars. Maybe 4.

Blind Retribution
Another one I probably wouldn’t have picked up without bookclub… but I wish I hadn’t. I quit it at 25% – it just was not my cup of tea. Look for a DNF report on it in the future.

Eternity in Death
I’m continuing to really enjoy the In Death series. This one I gave 3.5 and yes! A #COYER read!!

Reading Now…

These are both book club reads – and since book club is tomorrow evening I’m hoping I’ll have them finihed tonight or tomorrow AM at the lastest!
Sleepless in Manhattan

The Scottish Duke

Up Next…

Well I have my other book club NEXT Tuesday, so I guess it’s time to get reading those books. I got them all from the library, but I haven’t decided which one I’ll start with first. Here’s the choices:

Up Next 1-9

Have you read any of them? I’ll probably only manage one between now and next Tuesday so I have to pick wisely… Let me know if you think one of them is more worth reading. I think I’m leaning toward the Jennifer Niven.

As for audio… I think I’ll do another In Death. I seem to be reading them every other audio book these days and I’m liking that.

So that’s What I’m reading this week! What about you?

I know! I can’t believe I’m on book like 24 or 25 and still loving it! I’m in no hurry for it to be over, which is normally not the case once a series hits 10 – 13 books. Something special about this series.

So, some winners and some losers…I’m happy you did get such a good read in something you wouldn’t have picked up on your own. 🙂 I have The Unexpected Everything on my shelf…haven’t started it yet but I’m excited about it. It doesn’t work for COYER though. 😉 I just finished The Nightingale for bookclub and it was amazing. I’m currently trying to pick my next read. Help!! LOL
    Happy reading, Berls! <3 {{{hugs}}}

LOL! It’s so hard sometimes to pick what to pick up next – that’s one of the things I like about book club, it helps me know what I’m going for… at least to an extent.

I really have gotten fiercer with my DNFing and I just DNF’d Sleepless in Manhattan now too. *sigh* that’s 2 DNFs this year already!

      Hope you had a great weekend! {{HUGS}}

From book club discussion, I learned that the last book was much better than the first. I actually ended up DNFing, but only because I’m tired of wasting time on meh books – those books that would normally earn about a 2 – 2.5 stars from me.

    • Berls

This was my first book with her, but it won’t be my last for sure! I can’t recommend it enough 🙂

I really enjoyed the Scottish Duke – 4 stars – but I actually DNF’d Sleepless in Manhattan. It wasn’t bad, but it was meh and I’m getting a bit fiercer with DNF standards. Tired of wasting time on MEH books.

I’ve heard lots of good things, but I’m still waiting for it from the library so it looks like I won’t be getting to it this round – since book club meeting is Tuesday 🙁

I’ve heard good things about Sarah Morgan’s books, but I have yet to read any. I hope you are enjoying that one!

    • Berls

Would you believe I ended up DNFing it?! It wasn’t bad and if I had continued I probably would have given it between 2 and 3 stars. But I’m so tired of “meh” books! So I’m getting a lot fiercer with my dnf these days!

I’ve read a lot of Nora Roberts in the past but I just never got into her J.D. Robb series. Maybe the futuristic aspect put me off? I don’t know, I just decided they weren’t my cup of tea. I’ve heard such awesome things about Morgan Matson and have yet to read anything by her (despite owning three of her books). If I was choosing one from your list it would be the Morgan Matson book for sure.

The futuristic element is very minor, really. I thought I wouldn’t like them because of the police procedural side, but turns out it’s way better than typical police procedural.

For some reason I don’t have the Morgan Matson book from the library yet – requested a while ago – so I ended up going with the Improbable Theory of Ana and Zak and it’s turning out to be really cute 🙂

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Wake of Vultures. I’m interested in reading it and its sequel someday. I can’t wait to see what you think about Love, Lies and Spies since I’ve been interested in it for quite some time. I don’t know of too many book clubs in my area and I’d love to try one out and see what I think. Although, I’m not extremely good at reading under pressure so maybe they’re not for me.

I’m not great at getting to all the books they read each month, but it has opened me up to a lot of books I wouldn’t have otherwise read – like Wake of Vultures. And I love having book people to talk to in person! I’m not sure I’ll manage to get to Love, Lies and Spies since book club is tuesday and I haven’t started it 🙁

    • Berls

I ended up picking up The Improbable Theory of Ana and Zak and I’m really enjoying it. I also have Love, Lies and Spies from the library but not sure if I’ll get to it.

Hope you had a great week!
