Michelle @ Because Reading & I are recapping 2016 and looking ahead to 2017. Feel free to join us. I’ve been busy enjoying a blog break and transferring the blog to a new sever, so I’m reviewing the year in quarters instead of monthly, which Michelle has been doing.
Out With The Old: Q3 2016
Some Quick Facts:
- Books Read: 8 (Jul) + 17 (Aug) + 13 (Sept) = 38
- Books Reviewed (on the blog): 30 (total, hit my stride!)
- Favorite Book Read: I read several the entire Half-Moon Hollow series in August for Michelle and my Can You Read a Series in a Month? Challenge and boy did I love it! However, my hands down favorite book for Q3 (and maybe the year?) was Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett. I discovered a new favorite author and narrator (Christian Fox).
- Favorite Post: Do you Agonize Over Emoticons?
July and August I was consumed with getting ready for the next school year at my new school – but I also spent time getting better organized on the blog to make blogging work this school year. Then school started and it was.. AMAZING! I discovered I could teach and have a blog! So with September I started feeling like a real blogger again. I still hit patches where the blog goes dark for a few days (like the last couple weeks) but I have a routine now that lets me visit blogs, post on my blog and even sometimes reply to comments.
Q3 saw the start of a few of my favorite parts of the blog now, too. In July I started Just a Few Books I Read – this lets me review a few books at a time with just a couple sentences. I felt so overwhelmed with my backlog of reviews so its been nice to have this way of trying to catch up (though I’m still really behind). In September I started Books From Kinderland, which was for me to share what I’m reading at school but has had a bigger response than I expected. I also joined a couple Memes that I’m so glad to be part of – It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? and Top Ten Tuesday. I hope to continue with those and my new features in 2017, I feel like they have really rounded out the blog and my blogging experience.
