Sunday Post | Feeling Broke!

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

News at Home – Feeling Broke!

So over the summer I spent a decent chunk of change getting everything I needed to have my room setup the way I wanted it. And I knew this first month would be tight because in my old school district I got paid on the 15th of every month and in my new one I don’t get paid until the 28th. However, I’m officially feeling it. I mean, if I were getting paid in 4 days I would be sitting pretty. But since I’m not, I’m starting to do the account juggle. I hate that. I can’t wait for this new pay schedule to settle in and not hurt so much!

And, on the topic of money, I may not be getting paid as much as I expected 🙁 I FINALLY earned my MA in August and that’s supposed to come with a pay bump. But, because my university isn’t showing the degree on my transcript and probably won’t show it before the deadline, I probably won’t get the pay bump this year. Which I was counting on. Grrr!

So I’m feeling broke, but otherwise, things are good. My two kiddos that give me trouble are continuing to be a handful, but I’m also continuing to get support and I do feel like I’m getting better and better at handling them and their problems. On a funny note, I have a student in my class that we (the other kinder teachers and I) have started to call Cinderella. She loses her shoe at least 2 times a day, often more. And, like Cinderella, she doesn’t pick it up. She just keeps on going. She lined up from recess EVERY DAY this week without 1 shoe. LMAO! I think we have our Prince Charming, too. This one little boy keeps delivering her shoe for her. So much fun 🙂

Blog News

I haven’t managed to get ahead, but I’m keeping current and that feels great 🙂 I have started looking at scheduling October, which I can’t even imagine doing at this point last year. Yay!

#FitReaders Update

Still getting in my 10k steps a day and the food situation was much better this week. Remember how I hurt my foot at the lake this summer, though? Well, it’s really been bothering me the past couple weeks and Friday when I woke up I could hardly stand on it. So I may need to get to the doctor. Which is, of course, really hard with a teacher’s schedule. Hoping taking it easy this weekend will help.

I’ve done the change in pay schedule thing, it can be very difficult. At least that doesn’t last too long. Congrats on getting your MA. I hope they get it posted so that you can get that raise. Have you tried calling the school and explaining that you need it posted by a certain date? Maybe they could push it through faster. The worst they could tell you is, “no”.

Yeah I tried and they can’t 🙁 next is calling where I work and seeing if they could wait 15 extra days. Thanks, though! It’s great to finally have my MA after everything I went through to get it!

I’m sorry things are tight financially — hope you can hold out until the later payday. But it’s great that you’re enjoying your new job! Cinderella and her Prince sound just darling. I hope your foot gets better soon, and that you’re able to get a little ahead on the blog.
I’m not even keeping up — last week was pitiful. Hopefully I can start catching up soon.

Don’t feel bad, I had pitiful for MONTHS LOL!! Thanks. I think my foot needs time off it… Which won’t happen until Thanksgiving break. So November. I’ll be tight for a while, but I’ll make it (have to lol)!

I feel you on the money front, Berls, especially with the change in your pay schedule. Hopefully next month will be better.

That’s so funny about the Cinderella girl at your school. Haha I can see my daughter doing something like that. 🙂

I am sorry your foot is bothering you. I hope you are feeling better soon.

    Have a great week!

    OMG! Will you ever catch a break over your MA??? Geez! I am happy that you were finally awarded you much deserved, hard-earned degree! But gah! If I could shake that university, I would!! I am so happy that you’re loving your new job and you’re feeling supported and valued. I know that makes a world of difference. I am sorry that it’s coming with the account juggle and feeling strapped. That’s no fun, I know. But things will get better. You’ll get adjusted and things will be feeling good soon! I just know it! {{hugs}}

I feel your pain, I am so broke right now too! I just got my job and my first check was for two days. Dad doesn’t get another one till two days before my next one so for the next two weeks we are pinching every penny we can fine. I am praying my gas gauge stays were it is for half the week…lol. Going back to school has cut us pretty deep in the pocket book, so I hope it’s worth it in the end. 🙂

I love the Cinderella and Prince Charming story…lol…So cute!

    Miss your face!!!!

Sorry to hear about money being tight. I sadly know that feeling too well. I hope you can make ends meet until you get paid. And that’s too bad you probably don’t get your payment bump, let’s hope they register your MA soon!

That’s adorable about that kid that keeps losing her shoe and that boy that keeps returning it. Glad to hear the job is still going well.

And I can imagine it’s hard to find time to go to the doctor with a teacher’s schedule. i hope your feet will be doing better soon. Have a great week!

That is funny about Cinderella and Pr Charming. You never know with kids I guess! I do think that sucks about your MA/ pay raise, sorry to hear that. 🙁 Isn’t it amazing how in this day and age it can take forever for something to show up on a transcript? WE can send people to the moon (like 40 yrs ago) but we can’t figure that out? lol

    Anyway have a great week!

I hate it when you have to adjust your budget because of your financial situation. I hope you love all of your new books. Sometimes things happen that we can’t plan for.

I am glad you are loving the new job, I am sorry that you are feeling broke. I totally know how that feels. It sucks!

How cute, that little girl knows exactly what she is doing if the same little boy keeps bring her, her shoe. She is a smart little girl.

It the pain in your ankle? I have a nerve that goes between my bone and the coating rubbed off on the nerve. It’s called something but I can’t remember sometimes it’s hard to walk. You might need to see a foot doctor.

I hope you have a great week my friend! Happy Reading! oxoxoxo
