The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.
News at Home – Only 3 Weeks Left!
OMG y’all we’re halfway through summer, which means I have only 3 weeks left in summer break! How’d that happen? I had so many things I wanted to do that I haven’t managed to do – in fact, I’ve mainly only managed to do a lot of work. I’m starting to think that being a teacher is a rip-off. LOL! Not that I’d change it, but don’t let anyone tell you teachers get a summer break. I’ve been busy all summer getting ready for the school year.
I had two big projects this week. The first was making book boxes for the kids – you can buy magazine racks, but the cheapest I could find was $2 for 1. Since I need to be prepared for like 26 kids (hopefully I’ll have less, but who knows) that’s just more money than I can spend right now for just book boxes. I managed to make them for just $5. I used the USPS Priority Mail boxes (which are free) and contact paper – I could get a roll at the dollar tree (for $1). I only needed 5 rolls. Each box made two book boxes. I had to wrap them in contact paper (OMG that stuff is a bitch!) and then I cut them in half, but not straight – one end is higher so that it will provide support for bigger books.
My other project this week was organizing all my bulletin board letters. I have a few partial sets of letters that have been given to me. It’s always been difficult to find what I need when I need it though because I just had them in random bags. So this week I punched them out, laminated them (which means I also had to cut them out) and then sorted them in a file by letter. I’m hoping this will make it much easier to find letters in the future. This week I’m hoping to get the rest of my major organizational projects finished so that the final two weeks I can focus on curriculum planning – especially for those centers! – and doing some resting!
Besides doing a lot of work, I had book club this week. It was a blast, as always, and I discovered that several of the ladies in that group have another book club closer to my home, which meets tomorrow. So I’ll be joining them this week. Even cooler – most the members are teachers or librarians in my new school district. How fun! I’ve also been doing a Gilmore Girls binge while I work. I’m determined to watch the new mini series before the semester starts. But I wanted to rewatch the old seasons first, so everything would be fresh. I’m on season 3 of 7 right now 🙂
COYER is still going strong. This week we had our first BINGO round – Michelle will be announcing the winner today. Also, we’re getting close to Michelle and my new challenge – Can You Read a Series in A Month? It’s starts August 1st – hope you can join us 🙂
So my clean eating challenge ended this week and I’m still doing pretty good sticking to MOST of it. I did have a bread attack the first day it was over. I missed my bread and won’t be able to completely cut it out again I don’t think lol
