Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

News at Home – Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day! We aren’t doing much – headed to Franky’s mom’s house his afternoon for a cookout and just hanging. Our boys don’t want a big fuss and that works for me 🙂

My second week of summer vacation has come and gone way too fast! I can already see that summer is not going to be long enough. This week I spent a lot of time doing work on my Upward Bound Testing Coordinator job. It’s something I do every summer and I’m really glad to be able to give back to a program that’s doing so much good for disadvantaged teens. I’ll be really busy finishing that up this week too – the competition is Friday and Saturday. Once that’s done, I’ll be turning all my summer energy towards preparing for the next school year.

I’ll actually be seeing my new classroom on Tuesday. I asked the principal if she’d let me see it and she quickly replied (we text!) that she would be glad to let me see it and told me a time I could come. Already that’s leaps and bounds ahead of my last principal who I had to beg for information last summer (which all turned out to be lies). Speaking of… I haven’t turned in my notice yet. Technically I have until July 8th. I’m waiting until I have my contract signed before I turn in notice. BUT part of me wants to wait until the last minute. Because that’s what she’s always done to me. Karma and all. I won’t though. 1 – I don’t want it to backfire and somehow my resignation not go through on time. 2 – I’m not going to be as petty as she is; her pettiness typically hurts the kids and that’s what mine would do too. So nope, not going to do it. Tempting though 🙂

Blog News

COYER is off and running at it’s new home –! As usual, it’s fired me up a bit and I’m really feeling some blogging momentum. Fingers crossed it holds on – but I think I’m making a steady return to the blogging world. Thanks for being so patient with me!

#FitReaders Update

Last week was a great week for exercise. I did four 3 mile walks last week, plus I’ve been focusing on some trouble areas. I have many LOL – but right now I’m working on triceps and calves with some simple exercises from blogilates (no weights required). Both my calves and triceps have been pretty sore, so I think that means they’re working 🙂 Going to keep that up next week, hopefully.

Diet wise, I started Plexus last week and I have to say I’m liking it. So simple, a drink 30 minutes before breakfast. The biggest change I’ve noticed is that cravings for food have turned into cravings for water – BIG PLUS! I’m also feeling energized, also a BIG PLUS! I’ll be keeping that going this week and it looks like I’ll also be doing a Clean Eating Challenge. I had a friend tell me she was going to do it and that she was looking for support, so I thought, what the heck?! I’ll go for it! So wish me luck! I may need it haha!

Isn’t it crazy? I have like 6 weeks of vacation left. That’s it! And I don’t feel like I’ve taken any vacation, I’ve been so busy!! Hope you had a great weekend 🙂

  1. A Voracious Reader

All great news, Berls! I’m so happy for you!! *jumps around* Ok, what I really did was *bounce up and down in my chair* but I was jumping in my head, so it counts. 😀

Hahaha that’s how I jump most the time. Real jumping can be dangerous 🙂 Thanks, I’m very optimistic! Hope you’re having a great week *hugs*

  2. Katherine

Good for you for keeping the kids in mind even though the principal doesn’t. It would be hard not to wait until the last minute just to show her though. Yay for getting out of that situation. I know last year was rough. Have a great week!

The kids are what got me through all year and are really my only regret. I’m going to miss not seeing mine next year, all grown from summer! But it’s the right thing to do, I’m pretty positive. If only my principal cared for the kids and put them first – then I’d be happy at that school! Oh well, I guess that’s my past now. Have a great week Katherine 🙂

  3. Bea @ Bea's Book Nook

The new job already sounds better than the current one but smart to wait until you sign a contract before giving your notice. I hope it all works out for you. Good luck with Plexus and your eating challenge!

    • Berls

It does, doesn’t it? I’m excited, but a little nervous too. It’s a change and I won’t know till things really get started if it was the best decision. But I feel positive about it. Thanks so much, I’m nervous about the challenge but I think it’ll be a good challenge 🙂

  4. Lexxie

It sounds like everything is coming together for your beautifully, Berls, and I’m so happy for you! Do you think you’ll get your contract next week when you get to visit your classroom? That would be kind of neat – then you can resign and be done with it 🙂 I totally understand why in some ways you’d like to resign at the latest possible moment, but it’ll be better for you as well to just do it and get it over with. That way, you won’t have to think of that principal and all the shit she made you go through.
Happy Father’s Day to Mr. Berls 😉
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading! I miss you lots! xoxo

It sure feels like it is, I hope I’m right this time! No, I won’t sign my contract on Tuesday, when I see my classroom – but Thursday I have a meeting with HR and should sign my contract then. So I should be able to resign on Friday 🙂 it’ll be nice to put everything that principal put me through behind me!

Thanks – I will let him know. Happy Father’s day to Mr. Lex;) xoxo miss you!!!

  5. Tracy @ Cornerfolds

I’ve never participated in COYER, but I’m thinking maybe next year… I hope you’re able to make the most of your summer vacation! I know sometimes they can just fly by way too fast. Have a great week!

Happy Father’s Day to your significant other! I hope he has a great day! Enjoy the BBQ!
I totally see why you would want to hold off until you signed, and I totally understand why you don’t want to do what she did. That still drives me crazy, so unfair but I am glad you found a new place! I am very excited for you. You better text me the first day and tell me how it went.

We need to chat soooooonnnnn!!!!! because I miss your face so much!

Have a great day, my friends! Happy Reading!!! oxoxox PS YAY! COYER!

Hahaha I miss your face too! I keep telling you, this would all be solved if you’d just move to Dallas 🙂 Heck, I’d even arrange for the Jets to play the Rangers LOL 😉

I will totally text you as soon as I’m signed and resign from my old school. I really can’t wait to see her reaction. Have a great father’s day, I’m jealous of all your food! Tell Scot and your dad happy Father’s day for me 🙂 Talk soon!

  7. Trish

Your summer job as an Upward Bound Testing Coordinator sounds very rewarding Berls and it sounds like something you’d be fantastic at too. I can understand why you’re holding off on the notice too but I’d say get it done asap when you get that contract and then you can just concentrate on the future and forget the past!

It is very rewarding Trish – I like knowing that I’m doing something to give back 🙂 Yeah, I want to make sure nothing weird happens with my new job, but as soon as I have my contract signed I’m going to resign. It’ll be nice to move forward 🙂
