Just a Few Calendar Girl Books I Read | Part 1

June 28, 2016 Just a Few Books I Read, Reviews 10

Just a few

Sometimes I just can’t pull off a review, but still want to share what I’ve read. When that happens, I’ll share them in this feature 🙂

I gobbled up the Calendar Girl Serial at the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016. I keep MEANING to review them. Clearly it’s not going to happen. But I HAVE to share. Loved this serial and really recommend it. Here’s my thoughts on the first 4 (or the first quarter of Mia’s year).

This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence.

It’s really simple. I needed money. A lot of money. One million dollars to be exact. The amount didn’t matter. All that mattered is that at the end of that price tag held my father’s life.

No money. No life.

The time limit was one year. On January 1st I had to pay up or my Father was going to be killed.

When you’re faced with an ultimatum like this, you do whatever you have to do.

And that’s exactly what I did.

The job…Exquisite Escorts. My role, serve as high priced arm candy to anyone that can afford the $100,000 price tag for a month of my company. Sex is optional (for me) and a 20% increase on the price.

January sucked me in. I love the scenario – unrealistic or not. The month long escort – where she gets extra on the side for sex but it’s not technically expected – allows for you to really get to know the lust interest (because it can’t be love right? since she’s leaving in a month?!) My only concern at the end of January was that I really liked Wes and how was I going to handle getting attached to 12 guys only to move on each month?

A muse. Me. The motorcycle riding, ass-kicking, concert t-shirt wearing chick from Las Vegas, is a world-renowned French artist’s muse. For a month.

I had no idea when I took the escort job with Exquisite Escorts I would be standing naked in front of a blank canvas in a Seattle warehouse.

“Love on Canvas” he calls his exhibit, a combination of photographic stills and paint entwined to create the most awe-inspiring pieces the world will ever see. Except every last one of them features me and a moment in time where I was vulnerable.

Alec Dubois played on those vulnerabilities, teaching me lessons about love and life that would stay with me through the rest of my days.

I have to say, I found February way sexier, even if I do prefer Wes to Alex as a romantic interest. The artistic angle put on sex was just really hot. Mia grew so much too, because of the relationship and art. But I struggled with moving on from Wes.

A fiancée. I’m going to Chicago to pretend to be some Italian Stallion’s future wife. Why a massive hunk, boxer, and rich restaurateur needs a fake bride is beyond me. Then again, I’m not paid to know why. I’m paid $100,000 to be his escort, or in this case, the woman he’s supposedly “going” to marry.

The moment I met Antony “Tony” Fasano, I thought I might have lost my ability to breathe. In my twenty four years of life, I’d not seen anything like him. Clad only in a small towel precariously dangling from his hips--water droplets streaming down every inch of his muscular frame--I knew right then and there, I’d finally seen male perfection in all its raw glory.

What happened next blew me away. It was now abundantly clear why he needed me...a fake fiancée.

I LOVE LOVE LOVED March. The reasons why are major spoiler territory though. But ultimately it boils down to the way Audrey Carlan is showing the beauty and far reaching ways we can experience love and heartbreak. This was a more emotional and less sexy book. I also thought of it as turning point number 1 in Mia’s journey.
4.5 stars I loved it

Baseball, beer, and a hot boy. Nothing can beat that. Until I meet Mason “Mace” Murphy the next “it” pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and my client. He’s immature, arrogant, sexy as sin, and the last man that’s going to get into my panties. He’s not used to hearing the word no from women, so I’m going to spell it out for him.

N = Not going to happen.
O = Out of your league buddy.

I was hired to cuddle up to the annoying, beautiful athlete, and give prospective advertisers and fans a different view of this hot-shot professional baller.

Only he’s everything I detest in a man all wrapped into a dream package. Baseball player, talented, athletic body, sculpted face, and ass you can bounce quarters off of. Unfortunately, he also believes he’s God’s gift to women, a man-whore, throws money around like it grows on trees, and conceited. The challenge for him, to break down my defenses and get in there. My challenge, avoid hopping in the sack with him at all costs.

Even though I didn’t enjoy April as much as March, it was still quite enjoyable. This month’s man took a bit more to like. And some of the scenarios they fell into were more predictable than this serial had been giving me. I liked how it wrapped up though and I loved Mason’s family. I do think that the way April turned out was pretty essential to making March‘s turning point stick and for that, I appreciate it.

I had the same thought at the end of January, I liked Wess so much I wasn’t sure how I would get to 11 other months with other love interests. Thanks for the post.

I am so glad to see you posting your thoughts on these as I am currently making my way through the series. Seems like our thoughts were similar on the first 4 books. I really enjoyed the first two as well, with the third one probably being my favorite so far and then from book 4 onward I enjoyed them slightly less.

I had the same thought at the end of January, I liked Wess so much I wasn’t sure how I would get to 11 other months with other love interests. And that’s a good way to sum it up, February was a bit sexier indeed and I liked the art angle as well.

And March was so emotional and well written. I loved the message of that one and how the plot developed. My only complaint is that we haven’t seen them make a reappearance yet so far.

Same here it took some time to like the man in April, but eventually I did end up liking him. And I liked how these characters made an appearance later again and how the cared for Mia.

I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on these and thanks so much for lending these books to me. I enjoy making my way through this series 🙂
