My TBR List | April 2016 Voting

April 2, 2016 My TBR List 17

My TBR List is a meme hosted by Michelle @ Because Reading where we get some help picking out what to read next. We sit for hours looking through our TBR lists wondering when we will ever get to that one book we were dying to read when we added it 3 months ago or maybe even a year. So each month we pick 3 books from our TBRs and let everyone else vote on which one to read. We announce the book the second week and by the end of the month, we review it!

April 2016 Voting

I’m continuing to pick books from my #2016HW list – it’s been working so well for me and I’m enjoying getting to all my picks. So you will so a repeat or two on the list 🙂

My Three Choices

  1. OnyxOnyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.

    But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

I read book 1 forever ago, I think it’s time to finally continue the story, huh?

  2. Deeper robin yorkDeeper by Robin York

In Robin York’s sizzling debut, a college student is attacked online and must restore her name—and stay clear of a guy who’s wrong for her, but feels so right.

When Caroline Piasecki’s ex-boyfriend posts their sex pictures on the Internet, it destroys her reputation as a nice college girl. Suddenly her once-promising future doesn’t look so bright. Caroline tries to make the pictures disappear, hoping time will bury her shame. Then a guy she barely knows rises to her defense and punches her ex to the ground.

West Leavitt is the last person Caroline needs in her life. Everyone knows he’s shady. Still, Caroline is drawn to his confidence and swagger—even after promising her dad she’ll keep her distance. On late, sleepless nights, Caroline starts wandering into the bakery where West works.

They hang out, they talk, they listen. Though Caroline and West tell each other they’re “just friends,” their feelings intensify until it becomes impossible to pretend. The more complicated her relationship with West gets, the harder Caroline has to struggle to discover what she wants for herself—and the easier it becomes to find the courage she needs to fight back against the people who would judge her.

When all seems lost, sometimes the only place to go is deeper.

This book won an award at RT last year and when the author spoke I got teary and tingly – I was so sure I was going to read it immediately. Yeah, I know… but point is, I was so excited that I got a free copy and now I’m making sure I read it this year.

  3. Landry ParkLandry Park by Bethany Hagen

“Downton Abbey” meets The Selection in this dystopian tale of love and betrayal

Sixteen-year-old Madeline Landry is practically Gentry royalty. Her ancestor developed the nuclear energy that has replaced electricity, and her parents exemplify the glamour of the upper class. As for Madeline, she would much rather read a book than attend yet another debutante ball. But when she learns about the devastating impact the Gentry lifestyle—her lifestyle—is having on those less fortunate, her whole world is turned upside down. As Madeline begins to question everything she has been told, she finds herself increasingly drawn to handsome, beguiling David Dana, who seems to be hiding secrets of his own. Soon, rumors of war and rebellion start to spread, and Madeline finds herself at the center of it all. Ultimately, she must make a choice between duty—her family and the estate she loves dearly—and desire.

Fans of Ally Condie, Kiera Cass, Veronica Roth, and even Jane Austen will be enthralled by this breathtaking read.

I got book two at RT, thinking it was book one and when I looked it up I knew I wanted to read the whole series. So I picked this up, sure I’d read it immediately… and yeah, it’s been almost a year.So I think it’s time!

I had to pick Landry Park because it was the one I had to go add immediately to my Goodreads! It sounds pretty fab!

  2. Greg

I voted Landry Park because dystopian and it sounds good. Although Deeper does too and having a good author event is always nice. Either way hope you enjoy!!

    I know you’re not going to believe this, but I *didn’t* vote for Onyx. Even though YES it is high time you move forward in that series. Seriously. But I voted for Deeper. I have this on my kindle waiting for me as well. The teary and tingly you felt when speaking with York is what sealed the deal for me. 😉 I hope whichever book wins will knock your socks off!! {{{hugs}}}
