Sunday Post | Happy Holidays!

December 27, 2015 Sunday Post 13

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

News at Home – Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone’s enjoying their holidays! My brother has been over since Tuesday, which has been awesome! I’ve seen so little of him this semester, but now I’m seeing lots of him. We – Phil, my mom and I – took the kids – Franky (my step-son), Jesus (his little brother), and Isaac (Franky’s best friend) – to see Star Wars on Tuesday. I’m not really a Star Wars fan *ducks and hides* but it was fun to take them. And I’ve always enjoyed making fun of it; I found this one particularly easy to make fun of. Then my brother came home with us and, since he doesn’t drive and I haven’t taken him home yet, he’s still here. Not sure yet when I’m taking him home. Yes, I’m holding him hostage! Hehehe! It’s just so good to have him here.

Wednesday my brother and I did our holiday baking because we celebrate Christmas with the family on Christmas Eve (which was Thursday)… after I woke up at 7:00 to go take my PPR exam – the last exam I had to take to get my certification at the end of this school year. I think I did good, but we’ll see. Anyway… We made this chocolate peppermint poke cake (so good!!!), Eggnog Pie (tastes like Christmas!!), and Tres Leche Bread Pudding (the BEST!!!). It took us a few hours and was tons of fun. Then on Thursday we went over to Franky’s mom’s (Tequilla) house for Christmas. We had Pasole and our desserts and opened presents and ended up playing an absolutely hilarious game of Cards Against Humanity – Tequilla, Jr (Franky’s older brother), Jose (Jr’s boyfriend), Philip, Kiko, and I. Then we went to Kiko’s sister’s house and had Tamales and chatted for a bit, before going home and opening up a few more gifts and crashing.

Friday and yesterday I’ve been on a personal mission to get this place really clean and organized so that when I return to work in a week – grrr! – things will be better organized. I did my clothes (got rid of lots of things that don’t fit me because of losing so much weight, yay!) and reorganized the computer area. I plan to tackle my book closet today. And then this upcoming week I want to do some work for school – I want to get a homework calendar, new folders setup for the kids, and lessons plans for at least a month setup.

Of course, I plan to relax too. I mean, I’ve been sleeping in really late – the medicine from my surgery makes me sleep. As you may have guessed from all my activity, I’m feeling really well since the surgery and I’m eager for my follow up appointment on the 29th so that I can stop having everyone forbid me to pick things up and telling me to take it easy. I don’t take it easy well. I’m just not good at sitting around!

Blog News

One of the other things I really want to accomplish with this break is getting January scheduled out. We’ll see if I manage that. I’ve been reading a lot and I have quite a few reviews to write…

Which is great because COYER is off and running! If you haven’t joined yet, you still can and don’t forget to link up those reviews if you have! I have our first COYER update post coming this afternoon 🙂

Don’t forget to sign up for the #2016HW challenge! If you want to be in for January, your post has to be up by January 1st! I haven’t actually done my post yet, so I’ll be doing that last minute along with y’all 🙂

#FitReaders Update

My eating this week was absolute shit. Was anyone’s eating actually good? If yours was, I applaud you. But I feel no guilt at my eating because I didn’t over eat, I just ate things that aren’t exactly good for me. But outside of Christmas, I’ve been eating well like usual and I’m continuing to lose weight. I’m waiting for my appointment on the 29th to get clearance to go back to working out. I’m so ready! I’m really not good at this taking it easy crap!

Thanks Lola! It did go well, I actually managed to pass with at 293 out of 300 🙂 yay! It was great seeing my brother, I didn’t actually take him home until December 31st lol! Hope you had a great week!

My eating has been horrible this past week as well. But I’m with you! I can’t feel too guilty about that since it was the holidays.

I need to map out what January is going to look like for my blog as well. I need to think of some blogging resolutions for next year as well. I want to avoid falling into a blogging slump and hope that having some goals will help with that in 2016.

Berls, my youngest brother also gets held hostage since he doesn’t drive yet. You know, it’s easy to motivate him with food! I get my classroom set up every year that way. 😉

I have also been cleaning away – at the man’s house, not my own (you know, because of the rat situation). The other night I literally Clorox wiped everything. Today I’m sweeping out the garage and I’ll vacuum tomorrow. He comes home Tuesday morning (fingers crossed for no flight delays).

Congratulations on your weight loss! It always feels so good to get rid of those clothes that don’t fit anymore. With the man going to SWAT school next year, I have a feeling I’ll be following suit! (Of course, I won’t be running 4 minute miles!)

The PPR is always challenging. I hated that we were taking a career test on a world that didn’t exist. “Perfect student in the perfect classroom with perfect parents.” Please!

It sounds like your Christmas was wonderful! I hope you enjoy the rest of this week leading up to returning to work.

Sounds like you had a great Christmas. I wouldn’t judge anyone for slipping on a diet over Christmas. I wasn’t too bad, but I didn’t have any guest. It was just DH and me, so we didn’t have much extra for the holidays. My biggest issue was all the cookies and stuff that was sent to the office. Luckily, that should be over with now. Hope you did well on your exam. Can’t wait to see how things go in 2016.

Sounds like you had a great Christmas! 🙂 The meds I had to take after my gall bladder sugery made me feel so heavy that I couldn’t hardly get out of bed…I didn’t like it so didn’t take it much…lol.

Hope you get all sorts of stuff accomplished on your time off!

    Happy Reading!

Glad you’re feeling well after the surgery, Berls 🙂 And I must admit that your Christmas sounds especially delish… As for eating, don’t stress – I did it too (and continue to, I must admit). In any case, good luck with the certification results (though you don’t need the luck…) and I hope you will enjoy the rest of the season. Hugh 🙂
