Sunday Post | Found My Rhythm

November 8, 2015 Sunday Post 44

Welcome to My Sunday Post!
Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

News at Home

Before I forget (and I did when this initially posted) I need to ask for some support for my brother’s fundraising efforts. He spent Saturday gaming for Charity – Children’s Miracle Network – and he’s way short of his goal. It’s his first time doing something like this and he’s too shy to ask for donations. So I’m asking for him. I’m not sure how long it’ll stay open, but you can make really small donations and it’s for a free cause. Here’s the link if you’d consider donating. It’d mean the world to me if y’all helped him reach his goal 🙂

I think I’ve finally found my rhythm! This past week I arrived at work every day around 7:20am – which is five minutes before I’m supposed to be there and in HUGE contrast with th 6:45am I had been doing almost daily until recently. And I left work almost every day by 5:30 – also in HUGE contrast with the 6:45 and 7pm I had been doing doing daily. I only did work from home one day this week on Thursday – because lesson plans were due and I hadn’t managed to get them done at work. I made it to the gym two days this week – once for water aerobics and once for zumba. And I blogged every single day! I’m taking my life back and it feels great!

And despite my decreased hours, school is going okay. I’ve learned how to control my classroom for the most part – I still have a couple problem kids but there’s a light at the end of those tunnels. One of my behavior problems has gotten much better – and if I pick up my phone to call grandma, he stops acting up most the time. I’ve had to call her a couple times, but get her on the phone and then he really starts acting right. The other one has been such a problem – and he’s going to have testing done in January (grr! Why does everything take so long?!) – but now mom comes to school with him and when he acts up he’s her problem. She was shocked by his behavior on Friday (the first day of the new system) and he was being good in comparison! It was really great to keep teaching my class while she was in the hallway chasing him and dealing with his screaming instead of me 🙂

Blog News

Nothing major except that I seem to be coming back – I’m gradually visiting more and more blogs, so hopefully I’ll be by yours soon 🙂 COYER sign ups are just two weeks away so watch for that soon!

#FitReaders Update

So I’m still losing weight – but this week when I weighed in my app alerted me that I’m losing a bit too fast. And I realized I’ve lost liek 20lbs in the past two weeks -which is a lot considering that I haven’t started a new diet or anything. I don’t know if my getting more sleep and getting back to the gym would speed up weight loss, but I’m going to keep an eye on it. I mean, I don’t want to complain since losing weight has typically been very difficult for me, but I also want to be healthy. I still don’t eat much – I just don’t have the appetite. Breakfast is a cereal bar and skim milk, lunch is an Ensure, and dinner is anything from nothing, a glass of wine, a bowl of cereal to a healthy choice dinner or a piece of meat and rice. I eat more on Fridays and Saturdays though. IDK if I should really be worried. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow because I can’t kick this cold – been up all night coughing the last few days – and I can’t be sick when it’s time for my surgery on the 20th. Normally I wouldn’t go for a cold, but I don’t want my surgery cancelled because of it!

First: Thinking of you and hope the surgery goes well. Second: So glad you have some ways to deal with those two problem kids and that the mom is involved now. Third: BE CAUTIOUS! I’m glad you notice that you are losing weight too quickly. That’s a LOT of weight to lose in such a short time. Since you haven’t made huge changes to your diet and such, keep an eye on it and let your doctor know. Hopefully it’s just that initial loss and you’ll stabilize and lose a little more slowly. *HUGS*

Thanks so much Jen! My doctor has ordered me to eat more calories and she did blood work, so we’ll see what else she says. It’s frustrating because I’ve been eating this low calorie for a while, but something has changed and she says it’s too fast. Grrr. I like fast lol! Oh well, healthy is most important, right?! Hope all is well 🙂

I am excited for Coyer..this is the anything goes regular one right? I am so glad you have your rhythm back, I knew you would even when you didn’t 🙂

Aww thanks – I’m glad someone knew I would, because I sure didn’t LOL!

It’s the regular one – but there is the price limit (nearly free) and it has to be ebooks/audiobooks. Audiobooks that you get from Audible pretty much all count. And anything from library, netgalley, etc counts. We’re going back to the basics so it’s going to be pretty simple in comparison (which I voted for with how hectic my life has been lol)!

Berls, I’m so glad things are going better at school! Yay!!! I know it’s not perfect but it sounds like you are more confident and you and the kids are working out a better relationship. And hurray for getting some of your life back!

Another thing to have them check is your thyroid; if it’s overactive, that can cause not only weight loss but also anxiety. On the other hand, anxiety and stress can suppress your appetite, and it sounds like you might not be eating enough calories. So do talk things over with your doctor and have them rule out anything strictly physical. If it’s the stress and anxiety, that may ease up on its own now that things are going better, especially if you’re exercising. Take care of yourself — you’ve got a lot of friends here who care about you!

PS. Thank you for all the supportive tweets of my links! You are the BEST!

Aw it’s my pleasure 🙂 It so nice to have some of my life back and to have things a bit more organized at school. I wish it were easy going, but at least it’s not AS stressful!

I’ve had my thyroid checked in the past – but they did some blood work again today so that might have been something they checked. They think it’s my calorie consumption being too low & stress, but they’re checking a few things just to be sure. I’m not sure what honestly – by time they started that (because I was there to worry about my cough) I was just ready to go home lol! I’m trying to do better taking care of myself though – hopefully things are going to get much better here on out!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

That sounds awesome how you’re finally are finding your rhythm. And you even managed to do blogging every day and go to the gym, that’s awesome! I am so happy for you and that you’re back to blogging!

Losign weight too fast isn’t good either, take good care of yourself! It’s hard to eat when you’re not feeling like it, but maybe try to eat something small so you still eat at least something? And I hope you can kick that cold soon! It would be nasty if you had to cancell your surgery because of that. Have a great week!

Thanks Lola! It’s so incredibly great to be back finally 🙂 I went to the doctor today and I’m under strict orders to increase my calorie consumption – it’s just hard when you’re not feeling too good. I’ve also been given a ton of medicine, so hopefully I’ll be good and healthy when it’s time for surgery – fingers crossed!! Hope you’re having a great start to the week 🙂

  5. Bookworm Brandee

I can’t tell you how happy I am that YOU sound so much happier! I’m proud of you for finding a rhythm that’s working for you and you’ve gotten your classroom under control for the most part. And that you’re having more time for YOU to do things for YOU. 😀 Let me (us) know how the doctor’s appointment goes. I’m worried about your lingering cold. Your weight loss is fantastic but I’m with you in that I want you to be healthy so hopefully the doc will have a say today about that as well.
I’m just so thrilled to have you back, Berls!! {{hugs}} And Happy Monday!

Thank you Brandee! {{Hugs}} it’s so great to be back and it means so much that y’all stuck by while I was a crappy blogger lol. I’m sitting at the doctors now waiting – so hopefully I’ll have some answers on both the cold and weight loss soon. They’re checking me for asthma and strep – both seem highly possible apparently. And then for the weight loss, I didn’t have to say anything – they jumped on it. They think my calorie intake is too low – but if my loss doesn’t slow after I increase it then they’re running tests. And they’re doing some preliminary blood work to check blood cell counts… This is not looking like my year health wise. Grrrr! Anyway lol happy Monday 🙂

Aww you’re too sweet Kathryn! Thank you – you’re so right, that’s still a lot of hours, but in comparison, it’s a lot better. I’m sitting at the Dr. Right now so hopefully I’ll get the cold taken care of!

Woo hoo! I’m so glad to hear things are settling down and that you’re getting into a good rhythm at school and at home.

The weight loss is concerning; I second Lexxie and talking to your doctor about it. 20 pounds in 2 weeks is too fast.

Take care and have a good week!

Thank you! I agree – as much as I’m happy to be losing, 20 pounds in 2 weeks is pretty rapid. I like to think that it’s catch up from all the weeks I lost like half a pound a should have lost more – but I’ll talk to the doctor about it tomorrow when I go in for this stupid cold. Have a wonderful week my friend 🙂

This is all great news to hear! Sticking with your hours and getting help from the parents should make things easier for you. It is sad that he has to wait until January for testing but hopefully the results won’t take so long. I hope you get over this cold and you have a good week!

I cannot emphasize enough how happy I am that you’re happier. I was so worried for you. Your blog posts sound so much lighter now and while that’s wonderful I am not going to back off my {{{posivibes}}} until you’re on the mend. So, you’re stuck with me all over you. I mean, my {{{posivibes}}}. *sniffs pits* I hope they smell ok. I wear vanilla essential oil, so they smell like cookies. lol

Congrats on the weight loss but maybe running around with the kids and working has just made it easier to lose weight sometimes you don’t realize how much you eat when you are home compared to when you start working but I would check with the doctor just to be sure.

Have a great week, my friend! Talk soon! *hugs*

So glad you’ve found your rhythm! I imagine taking a little time for yourself is helping you be happier overall. Sometimes we just have to give ourselves a break. What a great cause your brother is supporting! I donated a little – wish it could be more – and hopefully he’ll meet his goal! I totally understand about being shy asking for donations. I’m the same way. Definitely mention the weight loss to your doctor. That seems a little fast. Have a great week!

Thanks so much for donating Katherine – he really appreciates it. I’m not great at asking for donations either, it’s a lot easier to do though when you have a medium like the blog to reach out to people. He doesn’t have that so it’s all face to face or Facebook for him. Have a great week 🙂

Glad to see you back to blogging to you have been missed. 🙂

Okay now you are seriously not eating enough calories!! You need to talk to your doctor because I am sure it’s been the stress that has got you not hungry but it’s not good for your health. You need at least 1500 calories a day and the way it sounds I don’t think your getting close to that. 🙁

    Have a great week!

Thanks Stormi – I sure hope it sticks 🙂 I know I probably need more calories, but I’m not hungry – I’m tired and sick most the time. I’m still coughing non stop and my throat hurts. I just don’t want to eat anything really. Good for dieting – though maybe not in the long term.
Thanks 🙂 It’s so good to be back!

  13. Lexxie

*HUGS* I’m so, so happy to hear that things are going so much better at school, Berls! Also the fact that you can get there later and leave earlier must mean that you have a lot more hours for yourself during the week now, so well done!
I think you should mention to your doctor that you are losing a lot of weight, and how fast, it could be nothing just as it could be sign of something else going on. It could even be connected to your gallbladder (no idea if that could happen, not a doctor – which is exactly why you should tell your doctor!).
I hope next week will be even better than last week, and that you’ll get to do some things just because you want to 🙂 *HUGS*

I really do, thanks Lexxie! Some of it is because I’m not trying so hard and some because I’ve figured things out. I’m going to definitely mention the weight loss to my doctor – and since I was there not long ago their records will be pretty accurate on how much I’ve lost. I was also thinking it could be gallbladder, so we’ll see. Have a great week! HUGS 🙂
