My TBR List | August 2015 Voting

August 1, 2015 My TBR List 18

MyTBRList

My TBR List is a meme hosted by Michelle @ Because Reading where we get some help picking out what to read next. We sit for hours looking through our TBR lists wondering when we will ever get to that one book we were dying to read when we added it 3 months ago or maybe even a year. So each month we pick 3 books from our TBRs and let everyone else vote on which one to read. We announce the book the second week and by the end of the month, we review it!

August 2015 Voting

I’m a LOT bit nervous about my ability to keep up with reading and blogging once teaching starts this month, but I do still want to complete my #2015HW challenge so I figured this month I would let y’all pick one of those reads for me again. So some of these choices are going to look familiar.

My Three Choices

  1. Close ObsessionClose Obsession by Anna Zaïres

In Lenkarda – the main Krinar colony on Earth – Mia is completely at Korum’s mercy. With no way to leave and no idea how to operate even the most basic Krinar technology, she has no choice but to trust the K who brought her there – the lover whom she had betrayed.

Will he keep his promise to bring her home, or is she destined to be his prisoner forever? Can a human become a part of Krinar society? Does Korum love her, or does he only wish to possess her?

Read on to find out . . .

I started this series in 2013 and realy enjoyed it – the authors gave me book 2 & 3 for review, but I just haven’t gotten around to finishing it! I will by the end of the year!

  2. All the Pretty LiesAll the Pretty Lies by M. Leighton

    “Live, no regrets”

    Her…
Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life. However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her. She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over. For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday. So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

    Him…
In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them. It’s never had to be. He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember. Right up until tragedy struck. Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

    Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession. But the one thing they can’t find is a future. Neither one has been totally honest. And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details. In the details and in the lies.
How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

Naomi reviewed this book and the following book back to back and I ended up buying both because they just sounded TOO GOOD! But of course, they’re sitting on my kindle — so I need to read them already! Another one I’m really glad I’ll definitely be reading this year, even if not this month.

  3. Deer in HeadlightsDeer in Headlights by Staci Hart

Lex is everything Dean needs — but he can’t have her.

It doesn’t matter that she’s beautiful or that her art and poetry speak to his shredded heart. She’s the new drummer’s girlfriend, the latest in a long line of drummers past. He promised the band he’d stay away to protect their record deal, so he’s left with no choice but to deny his heart for the sake of their music.

Dean is everything Lex wants — but she can’t take the risk.

When Lex meets Dean, she’s sure it’s only attraction that has her so hung up on the dark, damaged lead singer, but the more she learns about him, the more she wants him. Love has never been worth the sacrifice, until now. But she can’t put her heart on the line — she won’t — even though she wants to for the first time.

If only they knew they were just pawns in a much bigger game. And in this game of love, Aphrodite never loses.

Glad you made it in! It’s okay about the tie, I had my BF break the tie – he didn’t vote for your pick though 🙁 Maybe next month! Oh but yeah, It was probably Michelle’s blog – she LOVES that series!

  2. Bookworm Brandee

I’m going to be happy no matter which of these wins, Berls. You know why? Because I own EVERY.SINGLE.ONE.OF.THEM. And I haven’t yet read them. 😀 So I’m eager to see what you think. I voted for Staci Hart though. Good luck this month! When do you report? I’ll be thinking of you. It’s going to be amazing! Because like I told you, YOU are there for all the right reasons. Those kiddos are so lucky to have you!! *hugs*

LOL at least I’m not the only one hoarding all these books that sound so good but for some reason I haven’t opened them!

I started on Wednesday – and boy oh boy has it been a week! I’ll tell the longer version of the story in my sunday post but short version: I’m not teaching 5th grade science anymore. I’m teaching Kindergarten! So I’m a bit stressed :/ I am excited though!

Thanks Terri! I can see its going to be rough, based on the curveballs that have been thrown at me in my first week! Fingers crossed I find a way to balance everything.

Thanks Lexxie 🙂 Finding the balance is definitely going to be difficult, based on the first week. But I do think it will be possible with time. I mean, I made it work with grad school and that took some time to figure out too, right?!

I love the gods too, so I’m looking forward to this one. Not sure which one is winning yet, I haven’t peaked so it’ll be interesting to see!
