I married a douchebag.

It's my own fault, really. He came in like a handsome stranger and blew me off my feet. I fell madly in love, like the naive girl I am.

Then he left me high and dry.

Turns out, I was nothing more than a business plan for billionaire playboy, Marcus Tandem. He needed to be married to obtain his grandfathers business, and I was the poor victim in his path. I thought we had something real, I believed it was special until the truth reared its ugly head.

I never meant anything to Marcus. Not a damned thing.

Five years on and my life has been a struggle. Left with nothing, I've had to work myself into the ground to clean up my debts and take care of my sick mother, as well as trying to divorce a man that refuses contact with me.

Five years is a lot of time to plot the perfect revenge.

What my dear husband didn't count on, is that fact that I was smarter than I looked. After all, what married couple doesn't take out a life insurance policy? If he dies. I get five million dollars.

Of course, Marcus doesn't know about it.

One drunken night just after I left made sure of that. My mother is unwell, she can't pay for treatment. And I'm a bitter woman. I've been the joke of Marcus Tandem for five years while I've formed the perfect plan. Now it's my turn.

I have to kill him.

Oh yes, Marcus will pay for what he did. I made a vow before God, that I would be by his side 'Til death do we part.

I plan to keep that vow.

‘Til Death Volume 1 was a fast, sexy, fun read. From the get-go you know exactly what’s going to happen in the overarching story. For one, we start off with a pissed off Katia and for two, it’s a story that’s been told in many variations. Doesn’t make it any less fun though!

These characters are fun to read – Katia is your sweet, caring, way too good for this douche kind of girl. Her mother is very ill and Katia has pretty much sacrificed everything to care for her. And the poor thing had the misfortune to fall in love with Marcus – a man who has no intention of loving anyone EVER. His business is all that matters to him. He’s your stereotypical douche with two things going for him – (1) He’s amazing in the sack (which comes with amazing good looks) and (2) He’s filthy rich. Not exactly the resume for the perfect husband. To be honest, I like him – but in the your “douche with potential” kind of way. Not in the “I’d marry you” way. No way in hell!

Katia would marry him though and this is told in alternating time lines – partly as they march towards the altar and partly after they’re already married. Both bits are steamy, though as far as erotica goes, it’s erotica light IMO. More story than sex, just the way I like it πŸ™‚

I was lucky enough to get this for review in audio and I really enjoyed both Roger Wayne and Lidia Dornet’s narration. The story is told in alternating points of view – Marcus and Katia’s- with the narrators changing accordingly. Lidia’s narration would get a bit high pitched, but that’s really my only complaint. And Roger’s narration was deep and seductive, perfect for Marcus.

Thankfully I also received volume 2 for review and I’m digging into that immediately because this ended on a bit of a cliff!

This is one of those where getting inside his head is absoultely essential to liking him – though it does help with the hating him too. He’s a douche, but a douche with potential πŸ˜‰

I also like my erotica’s with a bit more story than sex. I wonder how this series plays out with her wanting to kill her husband for the money, but also having hot sex for him. Also why doesn’t she just ask him for the money? I am sure it’s more complicated than that, but just wondering as you say he’s filthy rich. Katia sounds like a sweet main character, although her husband sounds like a douche indeed, but maybe that will change later on? Will check out your review of the second volume next.

Yeah more story than sex is definitely preferable – otherwise it’s basically porn lol. The next one was so good and not at all what I expected. The money thing is complicated as you’d expect in a good book πŸ™‚ lots of character development and changing happening with both of them too in volume 2. It was a game changer for me!

Sounds like a nice guilty pleasure read πŸ™‚ You’re right, it’s a story that has been told before, but it sounds like it’s got potential in this particular retelling. Light steam is my preference too πŸ™‚
