May 2, 2015 My TBR List 30

MyTBRList

My TBR List is a meme hosted by Michelle @ Because Reading where we get some help picking out what to read next. We sit for hours looking through our TBR lists wondering when we will ever get to that one book we were dying to read when we added it 3 months ago or maybe even a year. So each month we pick 3 books from our TBRs and let everyone else vote on which one to read. We announce the book the second week and by the end of the month, we review it!

April 2015 TBR List – Ooops!

I owe y’all an update – last month you selected a book for me to read- A Study in Silks – and I haven’t yet finished it. It is really interesting though and I just think it’s taken me so long because of this ridiculous funk I’ve been in. I plan to finish it this week and have a review sometime next week. So sorry!

May 2015 Voting

Even though I failed so badly at this last month, I don’t want to skip this month because seeing what y’all will pick for me is often a highlight of my month. I love reading the books y’all pick and I think I’m going to have a much better month.

My Three Choices

I’m focusing on review books in May thanks to Kimba’s Clean Sweep Arc Sweep Challenge. Since I only have 3 audio review books right now, though, I decided to pick three auidobooks from my #2015HW list – would be nice to be successful on both My TBR List and my #2015HW challenge this month! I’m also realizing that I’m running out of audiobooks on my #2015HW list… next year it may be ALL audiobooks!

  1. 51+8KnpEeIL._SL300_Mercy Blade by Faith Hunter
    Narrated by Khristine Hvam

Jane Yellowrock, a shape-shifting rogue-vampire hunter-for-hire, is now taking blood money from the very vamps she used to hunt. But things start heating up in the Big Easy when weres announce their existence to the world, and revive the bitter tensions that run between them and their old enemies — vampires. Jane finds herself caught in the crossfire.

  2. I’m actually listening to the book prior to this one (a leftover attempt to finish my #2015HW last month), so reading this would be nice for continuity. Or it could get boring. I never know LOL!

  3. InsurgentInsurgent by Veronica Roth
    Narrated by Emma Galvin

One choice can transform youโ€”or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she lovesโ€”and herselfโ€”while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris’s initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocableโ€”and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

  4. I’ve been meaning to read this one for a while and now that the movie is out I really want to – because I won’t let myself watch the movie otherwise. Of course, I said the same about If I Stay and Vampire Academy still haven’t seen those movies, so no real rush…

  5. StrayStray by Rachel Vincent
    Narrated by Jennifer Van Dyck

There are only eight breeding female werecats left . . .
    And I’m one of them.
I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.

Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.

I’d been warned about Strays — werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.

This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back . . . for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I’m no meek kitty. I’ll take on whatever — and whoever — I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays — ’cause I got claws, and I’m not afraid to use them . . .

  6. I REALLY enjoyed Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamer’s series and I’ve heard great things about this one, so I’m anxious to start it. But I’m also hesitant to start yet ANOTHER series with so many unfinished!

Now Vote!

As you can see, I’ve reasons both for and against each of these as a next pick – so I’m really excited to see what you have to say!

Thanks for playing along! Now head over to Because Reading for the linky! Even if you’re not joining in, you can vote ๐Ÿ™‚

LOL I think your vote probably just pushed it into 1st place ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll definitely be reading it soon no matter what, since it’s a #2015HW book. I do like Rachel Vincent, so I’m confident I’ll like it!

I managed to finish April’s book, but I am still working on March’s, so I understand falling behind! I chose Mercy Blade, so that you go straight into the book after finishing the first one.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that fell behind! Sometime’s things just don’t work as you planned! I’m loving the book before Mercy Blade, so that would be a great one to win!

You’re one of the reasons why I want to hurry up and start this series, I remember you devouring it! I will definitely start it this year, even if it doesn’t win this month ๐Ÿ™‚

LOL I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t gotten around to it! I enjoyed Divergent, but I haven’t been in a rush to continue – I’ve heard so many different things about the trilogy and I’m not sure how I’ll feel.

Oh this was an easy one! I love rachel Vincent her Shifter series, so I voted for Stray. Although Stray was actually my least favourite book in the series as I thought the main character was annoying and took some getting sued to. But the series is really good and I think you’ll like it!

LOL I’m glad it was easy for you! I’m excited to start this series – between you and Angie, I’m confident I’ll like it. Good to know that the first one won’t be my favorite though, that way I won’t judge it to harshly. Looks like it’s tied for first place right now, so we’ll see what happens!

LOL I’m glad to hear it’s worth reading! I enjoyed Divergent and I look forward to reading Insurgent – for some reason I just keep pushing it back. But it’s tied for first right now, so there’s a good chance I’ll be reading it this month!

I’ve heard that from several people – the reactions seem so varied, though, I just don’t know what to expect. I enjoyed Divergent though, so I am looking forward to reading Insurgent. It has a good chance at winning, it’s tied for 1st place right now!

I think you’re right Michelle – It’s sound right up my alley. Angie and Lola have both raved about this series, so I’m looking forward to starting it – this month or later this year.

I’ve heard so many good things about it Michelle, so I’m looking forward to reading it. Even if it doesn’t win this month, I’ll definitely be picking it up soon!

Oh I know, I think that’s why I haven’t been gung ho about continuing – I have NO IDEA how I’ll feel about it. You know you go into some books just sure you’ll like them? Not this one. I liked Divergent though, so I’m hopeful. I’ll be reading it soon no matter what, but there’s a good chance it will be this month!

I’m really enjoying Study in Silks – it’s just so slow going. Not the pace of the book really, just me and reading time have been so limited. And it’s long. I really REALLY hope I finish it in the next couple days so I can start knocking out some other review books for the month!

LOL well I can tell you that Rachel Vincent is a great author – so I’m expecting to like it a lot. Plus Angie and Lola really liked the series. But I can’t wait to see for myself ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree – I’m ashamed of how long I’ve had it on my shelves – I think were going on three years now ๐Ÿ™ Too many books and not enough time!
