April 5, 2015 Sunday Post 20

Welcome to the 80th Edition of My Sunday Post!
Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

News at Home

I’ve been an emotional roller coaster this week, feeling the extremes of pretty much every emotion! And I haven’t done much reading, I think I’ve just been in the wrong mood :/

This week started out so good. I got my scores Monday – I passed my exam with a 291/300. As in – I KICKED IT’S ASS! 🙂 WOO-HOO! Sweet relief!

And then Wednesday things got gradually worse and worse. First of all, there was ANOTHER mix-up with the tests and guess who didn’t take her ESL supplemental test this week? Me! Let’s not get into it and just leave it at that… I’m tired of talking about it frankly. Clearly I can’t have a smooth experience with these exams. I’m rescheduled for April 21st now. Wednesday some more things happened that, well I can’t talk about and frankly it makes me sick to my stomach with worry and stress so I don’t even want to talk about. But it was the low point in my week and probably will be for a bit. Send good vibes my way please, I need a few miracles.

I have been knitting away, though. My stepson’s birthday is tomorrow and I really want this poncho done for him by then. I think I’ll make it and I’ll give ya’ll a picture next week. I’ve been knitting while catching up on the latest season of Downton Abbey. I’ll just say “Poor Edith!” That girl really doesn’t have any luck, does she? 🙁

Oh I do have a picture for you this week though – I made Lola’s Creamy Pesto Spinach Pasta sauce this week and it turned out really REALLY yummy! This is two servings (at least how we ate it LOL) and maybe not as pretty, but super yummy!

It was super easy too 🙂 Thanks Lola!

Then Thursday I woke up feeling inspired to write – more than I have in a while! Maybe feeling bad is a great writing motivator? So I made little progress reading, but I’ve been writing away. And Saturday brought me back full circle! We celebrated Easter Thursday and it was so much fun. We’re not religous, so Easter is just another excuse to hang out and have fun with the kiddos. We cooked out burgers and hotdogs, had some potato salad and lots of fun. We did an easter egg hunt, painted eggs, and then a couple of us ended up learning dances for hours! We setup youtube on the tv, moved the furniture and at first we just fooled around doing the cupid shuffle, Wobble, etc but we ended finding a great tutorial for Uptown Funk with Bruno Mars’s dance routine. We did that over and over and ended the day dancing along with the official music video. It was so much fun and I think I actually got it. The only bad thing is that I pushed a bit too hard and both my right knee (I had surgery on it like 8 years ago) and my left foot (the one from the stress fracture) are hurting 🙁 But it was so much fun!

The week ended on a high note, so that’s encouraging. This is typically a rough time of the year for me – a loved one died years ago on April 6th and I tend to get into a funk. I’m in a really good mood at the moment, so maybe I can hold on to that and not let the stuff that brings me down overwhelm me. I am looking forward to my annual reread of Pride and Prejudice. I’m considering doing the audio for the first time ever 🙂

#FitReaders Update

I decided that I’m going to start giving a daily accounting because steps don’t count a lot of what I do for excercise – so I’ll have a record of my average steps at the end. I’m only noting exercises that don’t impact steps, so my jog/walks (for example) are just included in the steps. My foot started feeling much better this week – thank goodnes because when I’m stressed I really like to exercise. Hopefully the pain will go away from the dancing with some ice!

I’m keeping a daily accounting starting with good ole April 1st. My goal this month is 4k steps/day week 1, 6k steps/day week 2, etc – hoping to get back to 10k steps/day by end of the month or at least mid-May.

Blogosphere Fun

Rachelle shared an intersting look at the history of Beauty and the Beast this week.

Liza has this fun feature where she writes letters to characters. Check out this week’s letter to Alyssa of Splintered.

There’s been a few calls for different kinds of support for Dewey’s, which is fast approaching. They need prize donations, Mini-Challenge Hosts, and Cheerleaders!

Lots of good stuff from Ashley this week too! Are you an author? She’s made the plugin for authors that’s sure to become as useful as UBB for book bloggers, in my opinion! She’s also taught us how to add a Jetpack subscription to the end of each post! I’ll be doing this next week I think. Oh and she also has a great walkthough on how to Rock That Effing About Page!

Get tired of reading or writing reviews? Trish’s Bookish Chat this week is all about The Benefits of Book Reiews. It might inspire you to change your tune 🙂

Anya poses an intersting question, When’s the right time to send publicist’s review links?

And an Easter themed book-ish discussion from Carmel – Do you notice Easter Eggs? I don’t usually, but now I know some places to look for them!

Heidi asks What annoys you in books? and she’s going beyond the dreaded love triangle and cliff-hangers!

*hugs* sounds like you had a busy and emotional week. I hope next week is better. I am sending good vibes your way.

It seems impossible to have this much bad luck as you did with your tests, ugh I can understand you have had enough. But yay for doing so well on that first test, that’s a really high score.

And your picture and tweet about the spinach dish you made, really made my day, it was so fun to see someone trying out one of the recipes I shared on my blog! So thanks for sharing 🙂

Thanks Lola 🙂 It really does seem impossible, right? I’m determined to not take it as a sign and instead view my great scores as the sign that I’m on the right path.

I’m glad the pictures made your day 🙂 It was so yummy I had to share! I made a bit more than your recipe and had leftovers for three meals – yay!

Here’s to a great week ahead!

You’re welcome 🙂 Oh when I saw they actually had an Urban Fantasy this month, I was so excited! Had to snatch it up. Have a great week!

Yeah my weeks haven’t been too happy either. A lot of stress with trying to find a job and filling out the unemployment forms, multiple times because I haven’t gotten any benefits yet and my bills are starting to pile up. Very grateful for my mom and helping though.

At least you got some nice books out of this! They’re all new to me but I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!

Come visit my STS when you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

Thanks Trish – I’m glad I did so well. Failing is not an option, especially with the hell I go through each time I try to take a test!

*Catch* Perfect throw! Thanks for the good wishes, I really appreciate it 🙂

oh and here’s the link for the uptown funk tutorial we were using 😉 Have fun!

Congratulations on your exam scores – you did nail that sucker, didn’t ya? 🙂 So proud of you. I’m sorry your week has gone downhill after, it sucks when that happens. The scheduling chaos surrounding your exams deserves a book! It would be a bestseller too, I’ll bet… Excited about the poncho and can’t wait to see pics of it. The pesto sauce looks yummy, but I don’t think I’ll try it out soon, as hubby is home and cooking every day (I love it when he doesn’t have to travel!) A Final Act Of Cruelty looks pretty intriguing… Have a great week, ducks <3

Thanks, I’m so happy with my scores. If only the situation with the testing center would go a bit better! At least they haven’t been making me pay for all these mistakes (monetarily that is – the emotional cost is high on my nerves)!

I read the first 5 installments of Cruelty and, though I’m not one for horror typically, they were so good and I’m thrilled to get the chance to read the conclusion.

      Have a great week 🙂

    Thanks for sharing the link!

Sorry to hear about your bummer of a week, but I’m glad Thur went well — I’m sure this upcoming week will go tons better!

I’m sure I missed it in one of your earlier posts, but what, pray tell, is Blogilates? It sounds interesting.

My pleasure, Liza. I love those letters 🙂

Thanks, I’m hoping for a better week. If I decide to be positive, hopefully it’ll turn out good.

You know, I’m not sure I have explained blogilates… whoops! If you go to blogilates.com you can see for yourself – basically there’s a fitness instructor who lot puts together pilates inspired routines through her blog and YouTube channel. There’s calendars to follow and everything, so you keep it fresh and different every day. I love it, but I’m very sore 🙂 You should definitely check it out!
