Harry Potter MOTW

Meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts

From Leah @ Uncorked Thoughts:
This is a meme I started and thought I’d (with a lot of help from Ula @ Blog of Erised) that I’d make a schedule of the posts to come if anyone wants to join in :). The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object, quote etc. from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! Each topic will be posted on this page for the week. There will also be free week where everyone can decide whatever topic they want!
All I ask in return is that you guys link back to my blog :). Hope you enjoy!

Last week Reanna @ Phantasmic Reads shared her first (I believe) Harry Potter MOTW post and I immediately headed over to Uncorked Thoughts to see what future themes were! I love Harry Potter and this is a structured way to talk about it EVERY WEEK πŸ™‚ I’m so in!

Best ‘Neville Moment’

I adore Neville! He’s actually a lot how I picture Eric, the main character in my short story “Simulated Perfection.” He has a quiet courage, unlike so many of the characters – Harry, Hermione, Ron – and as a result his early moments really endeared me to him. His first year was so rough, but he ended it as a character to take notice of – with Dumbledore awarding him 10 points for the courage to stand up to his friends. I was so happy for him at that point!

And that began the transformation from awkward, accident prone little boy to leader of Dumbledore’s Army and the man who brought down Voldemort’s final horocrux – the snake, Nagini. I loved watching him grow, so picking THE MOMENT to spotlight was hard. I mean watching Neville dancing around by himself before the big ball? When he was the one observant enough to know about the Room of Requirements? When he went with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Luna to the Department of Mysteries and fights Death Eaters? When he uses plants – PLANTS – to attack Voldemart’s invading army? What moment should I pick…?

Well I may be going for the most obvious one, but when Neville stands up to Voldemort and kills Nagini, made me cheer (while crying of course, because that whole damn book was a tear fest)! I’m going to show the clip, but since the movie changed this bit and didn’t show it all back-to-back like in the book, I’ll just show the part where Neville saves the day and takes out the last horocrux. But if you want to read it in all it’s goodness, start on about page 731 in the hardcover (yes, I reread the ending when I set this post up…)

Enjoy one of Neville’s Best Moments:

I always wished the movies would have shown more Neville like in the books, I always thought the hospital scene in the books when Harry saw Neville visiting his parents was so important to the story and also the fact that he and harry were born on the same day and Neville was the other option for Lord V. That is a great moment when he killed the snake, I also loved in the movies his dancing, he was such a cutie even when he was the chubby boy who got a rememberall (sp) and couldn’t remember what he was suppose to remember πŸ™‚

I love Neville. And I love all the moments you mentioned… but I also love something that doesn’t actually get shown much even in the book: Neville becomes one of the leaders of the DA in his 7th year, in Harry’s absence. He’s one of the main leaders of the student resistance. Go Neville!

I guess I never jumped on the Harry Potter bandwagon, the only reason I read HP was because my boss at the time was reading them and he was a 50 something adult..lol. I read the books, watched the movies..okay..I am reading your post thinking how can you remember all of that..lol. My two favorite characters got killed..so not my favorite series of all times..lol. I am curious to see what else you will talk about. πŸ™‚
