Sunday Post | 72nd Edition

January 25, 2015 Sunday Post 22

Welcome to the 72nd Edition of My Sunday Post!
Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

News at Home

What a week! I had my last – and final – week of teacher certification classes last week and it was so intense! I actually went through and cancelled my posts because I just knew I wouldn’t be around. So I’m going to pretty much have last week’s schedule this week on the blog. The class was great though and I’m feeling both excited and hopeful about teaching. The instructor was a retired teacher who taught for 40 years, still subs and works closely with the districts, and won teacher of the year several times. Let me tell you, it was a real treat to learn from her! I still have to take my exam, do my observation hours and get a job, but at least this bit is done. I’ll be working on getting a lot of the other stuff setup next week. But I also plan to do some resting – my typical 5 hours of sleep cut back to an average of 3 hours a night last week and I need to unwind. I actually fell asleep when I was supposed to be working on my Sunday Post last night, so I’m already feeling much better 🙂

#FitReaders Update

Blah! This week was horrible. It’s going to be rough for me to try and get back on track tomorrow, but I’ll do my best. Let’s just skip the averaging and say, roughly 5000 steps daily (half of my goal) and no tracking what-so-ever…

Blogosphere Fun

Somehow I managed to read so many amazing posts last week! I’m not really sure how I managed to go visiting – I think it’s just a testimony to how well the RSS reader works for me! Anyway, here’s bunches of goodies I found to share:

Laura @ trips down imagination roads shares her thoughts on Reading by Recommendation

Jessie @ Novel Heartbeat asks “Do I Enjoy Books Less These Days?

Lola shared her recipe for Risotto with lots of cool variations and I’m super excited to try them out. Once I figure out where to buy risotto rice, which Michelle tells me is called arborio rice here. I’m so not a cook so that should be an adventure!

Herding Cats & Burning Soup’s latest Word from the Herd – “Are YOUR comments important to a blogger?

Ramona @ My Bookish Life shares comments from the reading community about racial diversity in YA Fiction

Carmel @ Rabid Reads asks “How Do You Read A Series?

Reanna’s 4th Quarter Talk is out with some fun insights and thoughts from 9 bloggers!

Jonetta @ The Book Nympho’s latest Talking Between Reads asks “The Story’s The thing… or is it?

Felicia tells us all that we need to give ourselves a break – and she’s right!

Added to my Shelf

Just one book this week – it was a preorder that I hope to start this week, even if the reviews are really mixed. It was an audible credit, so still haven’t broken my rules for buying books this year 🙂

Congrats on finishing! And don’t beat yourself up over the FitReader. You had an important event to complete and it.is.done. So…*high fives* In other news, I hate you for being able to function on 5 hours of sleep. I need 7 minimum, preferably 8. LOL

Thanks Carol! Lol my step-son calls me an energy vampire because batteries on electronics die around me (not kidding – I can’t keep a watch). He says I suck the energy out of them and that’s why I always have so much lol 🙂

Thanks Heidi! I’m glad you liked Burned, the reviews have been mixed so I’m nervous. The three hours of sleep was rough, I definitely slept a lot Saturday!

LOL! Well I’ve always functioned on a really low amount of sleep – even as a baby. My step-son says I’m an energy vampire because I suck the energy out of electronics – I don’t know why exactly, but all electronics have short battery lives if I’m near them (can’t keep a watch). Idk that he’s right, but I think there’s an interesting sci-fi/fantasy in that possibly lol.

I’m certifying to teach grades 4-8, so 9-13 year olds roughly. I’m not sure which end I want most honestly. Don’t think I’ll know until I get a job I guess.

I forget who I stole the idea from, but I love it. I als earn $ for writing down what I eat 🙂

I hope you’re enjoying Burned. I’m nervous after all the mixed reviews I’ve read!

Thanks Kimba! I slept bunches Saturday evening and Sunday:) it was amazing having such a good teacher and I’m more excited about teaching than I had been. Now to finish the requirements and get a job! Congrats again on the grandbaby 🙂

Get some sleep! Rest! But congrats on finishing the class! 😀

I am so nervous for Burned! The reviews are super mixed! I’ll get it from the library…whenever.

Congratulations, Berls! Sounds like you are well on your way to a teaching career! But whew, only 3 hours of sleep per night? I’d be a zombie. I need at least 6 to function, and 8 is better.

Well done so far on your book-budgeting, too! I probably should do that, but it’s so hard to resist when a book I love goes by for $1.99…

Anyway, have a terrific week, get some sleep, and enjoy reading!

Your teaching certificate classes sound amazing, Berls! I’m sure you’ll do well on your exam, and that you’ll land a job really soon 🙂 I have lots of more hours next week, and finally, I can teach in senior high *sighs* I’m so happy to get away from the young teens.
Have a fantastic week and happy reading, Berls. I loved Burned. So. Much!!

That teacher certification course sounds really intense, but really informative as well. I hope you learned a lot!

Thanks for sharign the link to my risotto recipe! I am really excited for you to give it a try and I hope you like it. Didn’t realize risotto rice was called different in the US!

I’ve been reading some reviews of Burned and soem aren’t too positive. I am bit hesistant now as it seems the author took the story in a very different direction.

Congratulations for making through your last week – you’re a fighter and a winner 🙂 Don’t get too worked up about the low performance in your exercise routine, everyone has weeks when other things take priority. The secret is to try and make up for it on the weeks when exercising CAN take priority. It’s how I balance things. Speaking of which, I haven’t had a great week exercising-wise either… It happens 🙂 Enjoy your Sunday!

Yay on getting through your final week of teacher certification classes! How great to have had such a good teacher. Good luck with the exam and job hunt but I’m sure you’ll do great! Don’t worry about having a not so great week exercise wise. Some weeks something’s got to give. Have a great week!
