Life of a Blogger | Scars You Have

January 8, 2015 Life of a Blogger 19

Life of a Blogger is a weekly meme hosted by Jessi @ Novel Heartbeat. Each week Jessi chooses a topic (scheduled in advance) that’s not book related so we that we can get to know our fellow bloggers better – and to know more about them than just books. I’m thrilled to join in and I hope to participate as often as possible. I hope you’ll join in too – check out the details here!

This week’s topic: Scars You Have

I’ll admit, when I saw the topic my thought was, “I picked a hard week to jump back in!” It’s not that I don’t have scars – I’m one of the clumsiest people you’ll ever meet, I HAVE SCARS. I just don’t really have particularly interesting ones or ones you want to see pictures of or anything. I really have one scar with an okay story.

When I first learned how to ride a bike without training wheels, I was a disaster. I had NO confidence. As soon as I realized that my dad wasn’t holding on to the seat, I’d fall. Even if I’d been riding for a good minute without him, I just didn’t believe in my ability to ride the bike. It took me a good couple weeks to learn how to ride on my own. Well, shortly after I finally got to the point where I could ride on my own, I was riding down the sidewalk and freaked out and lost control of the bike and ran into a parked car. But I didn’t just run into it, I scraped along the bumper from one end to the other before landing in a heap on the ground. I was pretty much unscathed, except for a long scrape down my left thigh. I don’t actually remember it hurting or anything. I didn’t get stitches even. But ever since then, I’ve had this long ass scar down my left thigh.

And that’s the only interesting scar I have. Probably the only scar I actually remember how I got. Because clumsy people try not to focus on those dumb moments that end in scars πŸ˜‰

What about you? Any crazy scars?

You know I have quite a few scars, a bicycle accident one like yours that’s near my elbow I completely flipped the bike over it landed on top of me and we both skid, I think some rocks healed into the scab because it looks like there are a few black dots in it to this day…I was in the sixth grade at the time.

The others are keloid scars from surgeries and not so fun but very creepy looking!

I have a few small scars and don’t remember were I got them either, I only have one scar that I remember how I got it. And it’s not really an exciting or interesting story. I have a scar on my heel as in the hosue I grow up as a kid we had a door that closed after you opened it, I wasn’t out of the door opening before it closed and it slammed into my heel. I can remember it hurt a lot at that moment.

Well to tell you the truth I don’t have a single story about scars. I don’t have plenty of them either. I do get them but almost non of them is permanent. So yeah you do have a story. I really like it and I also fell so many times when I tried to learn how to ride a bike πŸ˜€ So high fives as we didn’t give up πŸ˜€

Oh yes, I have a big scar on the bottom of my right foot that my kids are always touching and asking about. When I was five years old I was running around in the garage bare footed and stepped on a metal rake with jagged teeth. It sliced my foot open, it was bad and I still have a nasty scar to show for it.

Thank goodness you came out with a nick and not much worse! I’ve never been in a car accident *knocks on wood* and whenever I hear about someone being in one I get so nervous!

LOL Hmm, I’m clumsy and I seem to remember my most humiliating moments which resulted in scars! LOL I have one on my left leg from a bicycle accident. I have another right next to it where I fell down when I was in college. Yep, that tree root jumped right up and tripped me. I have a scar on my right leg where a curb reached out to trip me…that was in 5th grade.

Let’s keep an eye on each other in May, Berls. If we end up with any scars, we want to make sure we can relay the story behind them!! πŸ˜‰ LOL

LMAO uh-oh we’re going to need to make sure we don’t hurt each other in our clumsiness Brandee! I find it funny that we both have scars on our left legs from bicycle accidents. Curbs and tables and trees move around me so often, I’ve lost count πŸ˜‰ I broke my pinky toe last year and couldn’t even remember how!

Lol clumsy too huh? Dangerous bunch apparently! I think our bodies may get so used to it they stop scaring or something.

Lol well I guess a tattoo is scaring right? I thought about writing about emotional scars, but decided that would be way too depressing. I’ve got lots of those and a few that are still very tender – may have heal. So I decided to go very literal to spare myself and y’all:)

Lucky! Most my scars aren’t visible either – I never wear shorts, so even the one on my thigh isn’t. Bruising isn’t fun – and I bruise super easily – but at least it’s temporary!

I have a scar on my right shin. When I was a teen, we were away on vacation and brought our cat. For some reason the cat and the resorts dog decided to throw down one day. I saw my cat lunge at the dog, knowing if she hit her mark things were not going to come out unicorns and butterflies, so I stepped between them. The pain! The blood! But now a cat who’s got the deer in headlights look and the dog who’s got the what just happened look and they lost interest in one another. The cat had sunk her fangs in to me. That was probably 30 years ago.

Oh wow, brave kid! I guess I’d do the same if I saw my Buffy (dog) getting ready to land herself in a heap of trouble too though!
