Dreams | Life of a Blogger

January 29, 2015 Life of a Blogger 15

Life of a Blogger is a weekly meme hosted by Jessi @ Novel Heartbeat. Each week Jessi chooses a topic (scheduled in advance) that’s not book related so we that we can get to know our fellow bloggers better – and to know more about them than just books. I’m thrilled to join in and I hope to participate every week from here on out. I hope you’ll join in too – check out the details here!

This week’s topic: Dreams

So when I saw this topic I was immediately thinking about dreams that I have for my life, but it’s actually supposed to be about the sleeping kind. Here’s the thing, I don’t really remember my dreams 99% of the time. Every dream I remember is too freaking weird to even understand, let alone remember details.

When I think of dreams – I think of my stepson Franky’s dreams. When he was younger, he used to tell me these long long stories – like an hour long – with these vivid dreams about zombies. The were so detailed and they often connected to each other. I’ve never known anyone who remembered their dreams like him, though I often suspected he was making them up. Now that he’s older, though, he assures me that he didn’t make them up, they were really his dreams. So go figure!

Do you have vivid dreams? Do you remember them?

I don’t usually remember my dreams either, Berls. I did when I was younger…I think my brain is too busy resting and preparing for whatever is going to come the next day to create vivid dreams anymore. 🙁 I do sometimes have one I can remember…and they’re so weird. Like I recently dreamed about a jaguar coming through a window in my house to get my dog. Um, I don’t live in a place where jaguars live (mountain lions, yes) and I don’t have a dog. So, what the??? I do need to start keeping a journal by my bed because sometimes I wake up from a dream and it’s something that’d be a great story or a great fit in my story…but I don’t get up to write it down and in the morning the memory is gone!

These days, I actually dream up terrific sentences I can use in my MA thesis… so I have started to keep a notebook and a pen next to my bed to make sure I don’t forget anything.
It also happens that I dream about characters from books that really touched me deeply, and since most of those are pretty tough stories, I sometimes wake up crying 🙁
Apart from that, I can’t say I dream of much during the night right now – I hope it will come back like before, I’ve even had long visits with my grandma who passed away over ten years ago, and they felt so real I wanted to call her when I woke up.

I remember my dreams a lot of the time, although I tend to forget them later in the day unless something happens to remind me of them. I do wake up a lot, so sometimes I remember multiple dreams! Lately I’ve been dreaming about spreadsheets, since I’ve been working with some all week, so now I’m even dreaming up new ones to make! But I can’t remember what they were about…

I don’t always dream but I have an on going on about zombies that seems to be like a series in my head, it really ever happens and I only have it after I watch something with zombies in it. It has the same feel about it but it’s always different but I know they are linked (does that make sense?)

A couple of times I had a dream about my friend who passed away but every time I tried to talk to her about what happened she would tell me she had to go and I would wake up. They feel so real and I cry when I wake up. Sometimes I wonder what dreams really mean. Lets hope the zombie one is just my head being weird and not what;s to come :O

I often remember my dreams, although my dreams usually seem to be of the the neutral or negative variaty, I have so many weird dreams. I can remember having an emotional dream this night where nothing much was happening, but I kept crying, it was weird and exhausting. I hate those dreams and feel tired when I wake up. Then in the dream there was a mice with red fur and it was friends with Pita and Pita was doing really bad and I kept asking my mom whether I had to go to the vet with her. Yeah it was a weird dream. I also have frequent nightmares and recently had a dream where Pita was dead and Skittles was alive.

While I find dreams really interesting I wish I had more fun or positive dreams to talk about. How fun that your stepson always talked to you about his dreams and they were long stories. Sometimes when I have a very vivid dream I can talk about it for a while as well.

Oh now I remember a sorta fun dream I had last week, a sort of post-apocalyptic world were I had grow magic powers and there were magic swords that only harmed magic creatures and I could climb up on straight walls, but I am terrified of heights so that was cool but scary as well. Sorry just don’t get em started about the whole dreams topic as I have too much to say about it. It’s such a interestign topic.

Sounds like you and I are very similar Loupe. I don’t wake up a lot, but I think often enough that I don’t get into a deep enough sleep. I also don’t sleep much – 6 hours at most – so not a lot of opportunity to dream.

Hahaha give Alice in Wonderland a run for her money, huh? That’s weirder than anything I come up with. You probably could write your dreams and sell them 🙂

I don’t always remember my dreams but when I do they are super weird. lol Jessica & I were talking about dreams the other day and she said she can sometimes control her dreams. Like lucid dreaming. And they are so detailed. I suppose I could teach myself to lucid dream and then maybe I can have more dreams about Thor and less about stupid meaningless stuff. 😀

Lmao if I could control my dreams that would be really cool – lots of Thor 😉 she’ll have to teach you!

I rarely remember my dreams. I do sometimes if I talk about them right after waking. Usually I just remember that they’re usually weird. If they aren’t weird, I don’t remember them at all or even having a dream. I do sometimes feel like a I have a sense of deja vu, like I’ve dreamed something before and it then comes real. I don’t think it actually does, but it feels like it some times.

I know what you mean, I have thus feeling of a dream but no specific memories. And it’s always weird LOL!

  8. Ramona

Yep, I do. I usually remember them for a short while after I’m awake, but then they fade. I also have recurring dreams (or “A” dream…) And Eric sometimes tells me lo-o-o-ong stories about the dreams he has (also about zombies, but this is because he’s always playing Left for Dead, lol).

PS. How’s “The Raven Boys”? *wiggles brows*

That’s too funny! I guess its something little boys like to do? Franky always told long stories.

Raven Boys is good! I’m in the last 15% I think now and a lot of reveals are starting, which is exciting 🙂
