December 6, 2014 My TBR List 19

My TBR List

My TBR List is a meme hosted by Michelle @ Because Reading where we get some help picking out what to read next. We sit for hours looking through our TBR lists wondering when we will ever get to that one book we were dying to read when we added it 3 months ago or maybe even a year. So each month we pick 3 books from our TBRs and let everyone else vote on which one to read. We announce the book the second week and by the end of the month, we review it!

I feel like last month’s read really pushed me to read a book I otherwise wouldn’t have, so I’m looking forward to seeing what y’all will pick for me this month!

December 2014 Voting

The books I’m having you choose between are once again books that would fulfill a requirement for the Goodreads SRC Challenge. These books all have a word that begins with U in the title! That’s about all they have in common too! Ready to see what’s up?

My Three Choices

These are all kindle books I own, the first two were freebies and the last one was just $1.07. So they’re all deal grabs!

  1. UnEnchantedUnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn

Mina Grime is unlucky, unpopular and uncoordinated; that is until she saves her crush’s life on a field trip, changing her High School status from loser to hero overnight.

But with her new found fame brings misfortune in the form of an old family curse come to light. For Mina is a descendant from the Brothers Grimm and has inherited all of their unfinished fairy tale business which includes trying to outwit a powerful Story from making her its’ next fairy-tale victim.

To break the fairy tale curse on her family and make these deadly occurrences stop, Mina must finish the tales until the very Grimm end.

  2. Waking Up MarriedWaking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly

Her first thought: “Who are you?”
It’s the morning after her cousin’s bachelorette party in Vegas and Megan Scott wakes up with the mother of all hangovers. Even worse, she’s in a stranger’s penthouse having woken up with something else as well – a funny, arrogant, sexy…husband!

Up until now, finding even a boyfriend had seemed impossible – been there, got the broken heart, sworn off men for good. Then a few martinis with Carter…no, Connor Reed and she’s gone from first meet to marriage in one night!

Megan wants a lawyer. But Connor’s shocking bombshell?

    “I don’t want a divorce.”

  3. The UnseenThe Unseen by J. L. Bryan

Cassidy is a young tattoo artist living in the Little Five Points neighborhood of Atlanta. She’s always suffered terrible nightmares, and sometimes the hideous creatures seem to follow her out of her dreams and into her waking life, though she’s the only one who can see them. Drugs and alcohol can blot them out, but never entirely chase them away.

When a demonic cult begins to take control of the people in her life, including her younger brother, Cassidy discovers that the unseen world of monsters is very real. She can no longer avoid it. To protect those she loves, she must accept her own hidden supernatural talents and face the forces of evil before the sinister cult achieves its twisted goals and casts the world into darkness. Un

So I’m all like…UnEnchanted, yeah, I’ve been curious about that one and I think I have it on my kindle. Then I get to Waking Up Married and I think, hey, I have this one on my kindle, she should read it. Then I get to The Unseen…yeah, I voted for it! πŸ˜‰ That synopsis pulled me in. I’ve never heard of it but I hope it wins so I can see what you think of it…*before* I one-click it! πŸ˜‰

Enjoy whichever book is chosen! (but I’m really pulling for The Unseen πŸ˜‰ )

I voted for Walking up Married, I always thought accidental marriages are a weird but fun trope. I mean really how can you end up married without realizing it? And the cover is cute! The unseen has a bit of a creepy vibe and Unechanted sounds fun as well. I hope you enjoy whichever books wins.

I just love fairytale retellings lately too! But I understand the trouble picking – that’s how they ended up on this list LOL!

Thanks Celine! It definitely looks creepy. I’ve had it for a while, but since it tends to take a little push to get me to read something scary, I thought this was the perfect place to get the push, if it wins πŸ™‚
