Welcome to the 68th Edition of My Sunday Post!
Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

News at Home

We had a really wonderful Christmas – celebrated on Christmas Eve with my brother, his boyfriend & his mom, and my stepson’s family. My stepson was too cute – we got him a laptop because he’s gotten so he really needs it for school. But since we don’t typically get him those sorts of gifts, he was in total shock. He saw the box and said, “A laptop?! No, there’s not actually a laptop in here, right?” then he opened it and saw the laptop and said, “OMG there’s really a laptop in here?!” He was still in shock, LOL! It was too cute and I feel good knowing he’ll put it to good use. And it’s well deserved, since we just got his 1st semester report card and he’s all As except for one B and that’s in a super advanced class. I also was super excited to gift my stepson’s little brother with books – because he PUT THEM ON HIS CHRISTMAS LIST! I was so excited he asked for books and it was great seeing how excited he was with my picks for him (I did a genre sampling so he can find his favorites).

Jesus with one of the books.

Franky discovering his laptop.

In other news, I made my brother a scarf – it’s my first return to knitting and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I’ve now got three other projects to do – one scarf I’m working on for myself, then an infinity scarf for my mom, and an Outlander inspired cowl for a friend. I bought the supplies on Friday for those projects and am really excited to get started. And finally – gotta save the best for last – I scored TWO amazing book gifts for Christmas! My brother and his boyfriend bought my a Kindle Paperwhite and my boyfriend gave me & m a $100 B&N gift card!

My new Paperwhite!

My BF is a keeper 🙂

My boyfriend wanted to get me a Kindle, but couldn’t figure out what exactly it was, let alone how to buy it (he’s not at all tech savy), so he figured he’d just give me the money he would have spent to buy books. So I lucked out and I’m set for the New Year in books 🙂 It was the best Christmas I think I’ve had yet, since it’s the first time my brother was able to openly celebrate with me and he had his Boyfriend and his Boyfriend’s mom with him – I’ve finally got the big family Christmas I’ve been dreaming about since being a kid (who didn’t get to celebrate).

All that being said, I still have Christmas brain, or maybe it’s a Christmas Hangover? Either way, I’m so scatter brained! I keep forgetting things!

Lol so about the slippers – Mema, Franky’s grandmother, always does a group gift. Its something she gets for everyone and its typically something we wear. And the rule is, we all open it at the same time and then before you can open any more presents you have to out it on. This year it was the slippers. We all laughed so hard when we saw them – they’re really ugly (which was part of the point) but oh so comfy and warm 🙂

Anyway, thanks – it was an amazing Christmas and I’ll never forget it for sure!

You look like you had an amazing Christmas. Make that giftcard last for a while since you won’t earn a whole lot of money in 2015. We a nice celebration with our extended family also although my little cousins got sick and weren’t able to come so we were missing about three people. I’m so excited for my 2014 Challenge Wrap Up to go up this week if I can get it done. Putting pictures together takes such a long time. My first TBR List is also going up this week. I’m super excited to see which book wins. I hope people vote. I haven’t had a lot of activity on my blog this week. I have been posting, but there haven’t been a whole lot of comments. I’m glad people step away from the computer to spend time with their families.

You had a really nice Christmas with your family! I love your stepson’s reaction to his gift! That was a great surprise for him. I hope you post the Outlander inspired cowl. My mom taught me to knit when I was a kid but I can’t remember how to do it. Happy book shopping for your new kindle and have a great New Year!

    Happy New Year!
How great that your brother was able to openly celebrate with his partner. Yay for your family being enlightened.
It is also VERY great that a BOY put BOOKS on his list; it’s not easy to get them to read.
And it is also lovely that your stepson was happy about his laptop and didn’t just feel entitled to it.

    My post is listed below.

I love my Kindle Paperwhite! I got it last year and I don’t think I’ve really put it down since I got it. If I go anywhere it goes with me. You’ll be set with books between the Kindle and gift card! It’s such fun to get kids books or gifts they’re really not expecting. It’s such fun! Have a great week and Happy New Year!

Looks like you got a busy week. It also looks like you had a great Christmas. I just enjoy the two weeks at the end to catch up on what needs to be done for the year. I am still in the process of doing just that. I want to do a 2014 Wrap up post. I plan to have it done this Wednesday on 31 2014. Stop on by Nighttime Reading Center.

I ended up with a Barnes & Noble gift card, an gift card and a general Visa gift card that I think I’ll end up hoarding until feel the desperate need to buy a book. I’m ready to start our shelf love challenge. I’m looking fondly at the books on my shelf and thinking, “I want all of you lovelies GONE by December 31, 2015!”

The scarf came out really nice. I miss crocheting might have to get back into it again, I have a blanket I have been doing for quite some time now. You should make them and sell them on etsy! (is this considered an idea) 😉

Mom was here with us too (big bonus), and I guess New Year is going to be even more “crowded” (in the best way) because Dad is expected to arrive soon too. Yay! Hugs & kisses

Oh Berls! I’m a very sappy person (you’ll see in May!! I cry when I’m happy, and I cry when I’m sad…) And I have big happy tears just trying to fall out of my eyes because it is so wonderful that you and your brother could finally celebrate Christmas together! Both of you with your boyfriends, and that you had such a good time!
Lucky you! A kindle paper white AND a $100 GC for books… you’re going to need a year-long COYER if this keeps up 😉
Have a fantastic Sunday, Berls, and I hope next week will be awesome – celebrating the New Year and all.

That’s lovely that you could celebrate properly with your brother and his boyfriend. And I love how excited your stepson must have been with his laptop. And yes I get a glow when someone I know asks for books too, it’s like they are joining the club! Love your pressies, just perfect for a bookworm and I’ll never make the choice between ebook or physical book, I will always buy both so I like that your pressies have both options covered!
