Michelle @ Because Reading & I are recapping 2014 and looking ahead to 2015 the next 3 days. Feel free to join us! I’ll be sharing highlights month-by-month and giving you a peak at my goals for 2015.

Out With The Old: October 2014

Some Quick Facts:

October was an AMAZING month in the book world for me! I went to my first ever author events and went to THREE! The number of authors I met at the three events combined is impossible to list, but the highlights: Marissa Meyer, Kim Harisson (twice! And her husband, who’s great!), Jennifer Ashley, and Sophie Jordan. But really, that hardly skims the surface. I was a bit nervous at first, but now I’ll jump at the opportunity to go to author events – like RT in 2015. So excited!!!

I also participated in Dewey’s 24 hour readathon for the first time and it was SO MUCH FUN! I will most definitely be participating again and I’m already working on my game plan so that I can actually make it all 24 hours next time. I was pretty close – 19.5 hours this time!

In With The New: Goal #10

My mom moved in with us October 1st and that meant I had to move a lot of things around to make space. I ended up doing a lot of DIY projects around the house and one of the ones I’m happiest with is my treadmill desk. I just love that thing and I use it several hours a day. It’s helped me really up my steps – which is goal #10.

I spent 2014 building up – I did 4 5ks and went from walking roughly 4,000 steps daily to averaging between 8k-10k a day. Now I want to maintain that – my goal is to average at least 10k steps daily I 2015. And now that I’ve got that down I also want to start journaling my eating. All this is going to be more successful because of Fitbit + Book Blog Walkers (or whatever they call it in 2015). These two tools have made 2014 the first year EVER I’ve stuck to a fitness resolution. I’m looking forward to doing that again in 2015. Not to mention, if I’m good, I earn money for my book buying budget :)

Do you remember October? Do you have fitness goals? Have you joined the Book Blog Walkers community yet?

I’m going to upgrade mine next year using a gift card I got for Christmas. When I do, I could probably send you mine :) I love having it, it really motivates me to keep moving. I use my fitness pal too, we’ll have to be buddies on there!

Oh I know I love those! I took a break for the holiday, but lets plan on doing them as often as possible! I’ll start one next week for sure :)

I really really hope the next Alex Craft book will come out this year. I’ll cry if it doesn’t!

I don’t think you can listen from kindles, but you can listen from any iPhone, Android phone or even Windows phone. I get most of mine from Audible but you can also get them from the library, audiobooks.com and there’s also free places like librivox and Scribd. I just love them and gobble them up.

Yep, that should work just fine. As for a first title, I have tons of suggestions – it really depends what genres you’re most into. I know you like YA but what genres of YA? Off the top of my head, there’s the soul screamers series by Rachel Vincent, narrated by Amanda Ronconi. I think those books were where I fell in love with audio – Amanda Roncoini is simply fantastic. Its contemporary fantasy (as in our world, but things go bump). Another great audio YA series is Yhe Lunar Chronicles by Marrissa Meyer, narrated by Rebecca Soler. That’s a fairytale retelling meets sci-fi dystopia, very original and I have yet to find someone who doesn’t at least like it. Another YA audio I really enjoyed (but you may have already read, its so popular) is If I Stay by Gayle Forman, narrated by Kristen Potter. YA contemporary family, heartbreaking. I just loved what they did with the music in that audio. Tweet me if non of those entice you, I’ve got bunches :)
