Out With The Old & In With The New | January 2014

December 22, 2014 Blog Fun 8

Michelle @ Because Reading & I are recapping 2014 and looking ahead to 2015 the next 12 days. Feel free to join us! I’ll be sharing highlights month-by-month and giving you a peak at my goals for 2015.

Out With The Old: January 2014

Some Quick Facts:

I started participating in a couple of memes in 2014: Life of a Blogger and Top off Tuesday. I had a blast with them and although I’ve stopped doing Life of a Blogger (simply because of time) and only do Top off Tuesday once or so a month, they’re still reading highlights for me πŸ™‚

I also set a bunch of goals for 2014 in one of my Fun Questions posts and I’ve even managed to keep a few of them πŸ˜‰

In With The New: Goal #1

One of the goals I made last year was to keep blogging fun and I want it to ALWAYS be goal #1 for me. Blogging has been such an amazing adventure for me – I’ve met so many great people and discovered so many great books because of blogging and I want to always keep it that way.

To that end, I’m not going to be so strict or hard on myself. I will always be a calendar and schedule ahead kind of girl – it’s just who I am. But I’m not going to insist that I have a set schedule of what kind of post should go up each day. I’m not going to insist that a post go up EVERY day.

One thing I really let stress me out this year has been keeping up with comments. As much as I want to reply to them all, I’m just going to reply to what I can. I may not get to them all – I probably won’t. It won’t mean that I don’t appreciate them, it just means I’m not stressing myself.

In fact, I’m going to take a break every month or so, just to make sure I don’t get stressed out. Blogging is fun for me and hopefully it will never stop being fun πŸ™‚

Do you remember January? What goals did you set & have you kept them?

Remember January?! I don’t remember yesterday. LOL My goals for 2015 include getting my NetGalley books whittled down, get caught up on the review queue and do less tours (even though they’re great). Other than that, I’m not going to stress about it. Now, where’s the New Year’s bubbly? *winks*

Great goal! I agree blogging should be fun and you have to take measures to ensure it does. I decided to get a little bit easier with the comment back, I love commenting back, but there are times when i really don’t feel like it or can’t find anything to reply to and I decided it’s okay if for once I don’t comment back.

I remember January 2014…I had told myself I wouldn’t sign up for too many blog tours. I’d only signed on for 2 and then all these authors I’d read for previously started releasing books and I ended up with a completely stressful month of a tight reading schedule. So your 2 sounds heavenly. πŸ™‚ I’m not doing that to myself again this year. My goal is also to keep blogging fun and not bog myself down with too much. I enjoy reading and blogging and I want to keep it that way. I also want more time to write and having too much scheduled takes away from that.

I also want to be able to enjoy my kiddos…my oldest will be completing her junior year and starting her senior year…she plans to go out-of-state for college (I’m hyperventilating as I type this) so I need a more relaxed schedule so I can enjoy my time with her and all my kids. They’ll all be flying the coop way before I’m ready.

Sorry! I didn’t mean to head down Melancholy Road. *ha* I wish you luck with your new goals, Berls. It’s going to be a fantastic year!! I get to meet YOU in May!! Woohoo!
