Welcome to the 62nd Edition of My Sunday Post!
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.
Holy wow people! Can you believe it’s November? I hardly even realized it was October and now it’s November! I think time’s just flying by because I’m keeping so incredibly busy. Last week was no exception. For one, we sold my mom’s car. It was the right move – the transmission is getting ready to go out, it eats motor mounts for lunch, and had a $600 repair that had to be done now if she was going to keep it. We probably would have been okay doing the repair and replacing the transmission if it weren’t for those motor mounts, which cost like $800 to replace once a year at least. So CarMax bought her car and now we’re on the search for a new one. She can’t afford payments, so we’re calling and driving all over the place looking at cars for sale by owner. Hopefully we’ll find one today, because it’s exhausting!
And then Friday we had a blast trick-or-treating. My stepson’s family lives in a new neighborhood (they moved in January) and it’s so much better for trick-or-treating than their old one. People sit outside in costumes waiting for the kids and some even pretend to be decorations and scare them a bit, which was so fun. Here’s what really blew my mind… like normal years we took my stepson and his little brother. But we also took my stepson’s girlfriend! Where’d my little guy go? Trick-or-treating with his girlfriend (who he kissed – first kiss- last week)!! It was so cute though, since he’s still kind of shy around us with her, but as the night wore on they were talking and flirting so cute. Here’s a couple pictures:

Stepson (Michael Meyers), His brother (skeleton), and Buffy (Alligator)

Girlfriend (zombie), Stepson (Michael Meyers), His brother (skeleton)
Today’s going to be another busy day – car shopping plus stepson needs a haircut BAD (we negotiated until after Halloween) – but I’ll try to get around sooner than later. Hope everyone had a great week!

November’s Challenge Updates
Since I’m super busy with challenges this month, I’m adding this brief update to my Sunday Posts, rather than creating new posts (yes, I’m feeling lazy LOL). Not a lot to report seeing as today is just the 2nd.
A Month of Giving Thanks – We kicked off yesterday and I was excited to see several people participating with us already. Remember you can jump in whenever/however you’d like 🙂
NaNoWriMo Boggy Style– I started the month with 17 scheduled posts and that’s exactly how many I have right now. So I’m maintaining and that’s about it so far. Hoping to kick it into gear this week!
NaNoWriMo – My goal is to write every weekday, so I’ll really be kicking off tomorrow!
NetGalley November – I’m about halfway through my first NetGalley read for the month, so I’m hopeful I’ll make good progress on this one this week!
Blogosphere Fun
Another great question this week with Rose & Julie’s Chat Between Chapters: “How Did You Become A Reader?”
NoseGraze shared some downloadable graphics you can use with reviews. I have some of my own already, or I would have grabbed these up!
Traci @ Mad Hatter Reads is doing a weekly post with some great gift items for fellow bookworms. I want them all for myself!
Reanna @ Phantasmic Reads has another fun Quarter Talk – this time it’s 11 bloggers (including yours truly) talking about the third quarter. I had a blast seeing what everyone else is loving and looking forward to!
Rabid Reads asks, “Do you ever wish there was no sex?”

I’m honestly a little terrified of those costumes, but I love the alligator 😀 Pet costumes might be my fave part of Halloween >.>. Good luck finding a new car!

It’s November?! Holy smokes, it’s hard to believe. I spent the whole weekend at ICON so I hardly noticed the change in time or month. Have a great week!

Car shopping, oy. Good luck! That’s on the horizon for me too, blergh.

It really does, huh? I mean, I look at pics/videos and they feel like yesterday, but he was still so little!
I hope car shopping is far away on your horizon – I hate it! Thankfully we did get a really good car for my mom at a good price.

His girlfriend looks like a sweetie. And I see you dressed up your pooch too! LOL Is his bark worse than his bite now? Looks like fun for everyone. I used to take my son to a neighborhood like this one. Everybody got involved and they did the spooks really good with lots of treats too. Miss those days. Wonderful book haul this week:)

She really is – and she really opened up and started talking more Halloween. One of my favorite parts of the holidays are the excuses to dress up my puppy, she’s so cute, but I won’t torture her all year round. It’s so great being part of a neighborhood that gets into Halloween like this, it’s our first year, but we’re really looking forward to next year now that we know that’s how it will be.

Very nice book haul, good luck with the car hunt. I am loving all the costume pics. WE sit out in our neighborhood. We bring the fire pit out into the driveway and pass out candy and goodies. Hopefully November moves slowly as I am not ready for the holidays!

Oh I love the idea of brining out the fire pit – we’ll have to do that next year for the crew that stays home (we split up – half of us take the kids, the other half hand out candy). Sorry, your wish has not come true 🙁 It’s already November 15th and I’m totally blown away. Where has this year gone!?!

Great pictures! The girlfriend/boyfriend stuff is kind of challenging going through on the parenting end. What’s fun is when they have one you hate! Luckily it’s only happened a time or two for us. You’ve got a lot going on this month! Good luck with finding a car for your mom. I understand the sell vs repairing. So not a fun decision to make. Hope everything gets resolved soon. Have a great week!

Oh gosh, I really hope it’s a long time before he has a a girlfriend we don’t like, that will be rough :/ it’s cute and but also totally spins my head. Where is my little guy? ya know?
Thanks Katherine – the car shopping ended well thank goodness and we found a good car for her at a good price. I kinda want to drive it all the time lol 😉

Rita
Great week for you, though busy with car-shopping. I can commiserate; we just helped our son find his first car and we went through sell-by-owner ones, until we found a reasonably priced used-car lot model that was in good shape for the money. Good luck with your search. Loved hearing about first love and kisses–how nice and how sweet he is to tell you about it!
Halloween night, my adult son and I sat outside on the porch & he wore a full head skull mask that he picked up in a Mexican gift shop in Old Town San Diego, and a black cape, and didn’t talk. A few little kids were kind of scared of him, but I waved and smiled and let him give out the candy. They get over their fear quickly if you have a large bucket of chocolates on your lap!

Thanks Rita, we did well I think and my mom’s really happy with her car – I love it and want to drive it all the time too LOL. My stepson is shy about his girlfriend, but at the same time he always shares big moments with us. It’s so cute because he seems to be a lot more comfortable with her around us now that they’ve kissed.
LOL your son would have been a hit in our neighborhood! The kids screamed (as did plenty of the adults, me included) but got over it quickly for the treats. What was funny is that there were so many people disguised as decorations, you started jumping at decorations too! So much fun!

You really had a busy week! I hope you find a car for your mom soon. Must be exhausting calling around so much :(.
Sounds like you had fun trick or treating. In our old beighborhood some kids did Treak or treating, but not here. Halloween still isn’t as big here in the Netherlands, although there are some Halloween parties and theme parks we do something around Halloween.
Enjoy your new books!
Btw I really like your Halloween blog design!

Thanks Lola! Thankfully my mom found a car and it’s a really nice one at a cheap price – so relieved! It was exhausting though.
Halloween is so dependent on the neighborhood around here, but thankfully ours was really into it, made it lots of fun for the kids.
Oh thanks! I owe Michelle for it 🙂

It’s so cute and kills me at the same time. Every time I pick him up from school he’s late and when he emerges from the building he’s with her. You just know he was kissing her before coming out so I can’t see LOL
I’ve only knocked out one NetGalley book so far this month, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to get through two more before the month is over. I hope.

Blood Mate!!!! Oh, God! I can’t wait to see what you will think about it. I love Kitty Thomas.
I had car issues, too. But a little bit different kind – boyfriend was busy getting ready his precious Celica for showing it off. I cannot hear him talking about cars for one more second!!! He is driving me crazy!
