A Month of Giving Thanks is a month-long challenge. Every day from November 1st to November 30th I will be sharing the love and being thankful by spotlighting some bloggers and books that I’ve been thankful for this year.
Please note that there is no way that I will be able to express my gratitude to everyone of you in just 30 days. I love everyone who visits the blog and even if I don’t get to single you this year, please know that I appreciate you!
A Month of Giving Thanks Day 6
Today I’d like to thank:
I can’t for the life of me remember how I met Brandee. I think it might have been through Feature and Follow Friday, but I’m not sure. (Brandee: When you read this, if you remember, let me know. LOL!) But I guess not remembering makes a lot of sense, because Brandee just feels like a friend I’ve always had. I’m really excited, because we’re both going to RT 2015, which means we’ll get to meet in person! YAY! We don’t really talk much outside the blog, but I feel like we’ve gotten to know each other really well through posts and comments. Brandee’s a lot like me with her blog, in that beyond reviews, we get to know a lot about her. She has three kids (right? Oh god, I hope I didn’t miss one) and they’re clearly a huge part of who she is. As a step-mom, I can really relate to that and love it. Her daughter does most the art work that she uses on her blog (and she’s really good!) and it just makes Brandee’s blog feel so warm – like going home.
Family lady though she may be, Brandee also enjoys some of the more… ahem… enticing books, which is so fun, since I do too! I have so many books (by J.A. Huss especially!) sitting on my TBR because of Brandee – and I’ve one-clicked them too, so I will definitely be reading them. Despite how many steamy reads have ended up on my list because of Brandee, when I think of her the first thing that comes to mind is our shared LOVE of Pride and Prejudice. Many people love this book, but not as many read it over and over like Brandee and I. Every year I end up reading some Pride and Prejudice inspired book and this year it was one that Brandee and I both gave 4 stars. And I bet we’d both totally visit this place if it were real! (Am I right Brandee?)
Today I’m thankful I discovered:Austenland by Shannon Hale
Series: Austenland #1
Published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA on July 2, 2013
Genres: Chick Lit, Contemporary, Romance
Length: 6 hours 23 minutes
Jane is a young New York woman who can never seem to find the right man-perhaps because of her secret obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Predjudice. When a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-obsessed women, however, Jane's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined. Is this total immersion in a fake Austenland enough to make Jane kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in a Mr. Darcy of her own?
My review for Austenland is actually coming on Monday, so you can’t read it yet – but I will tell you that I had a blast reading it and recommend it for any fan of Jane Austen.
Go give Brandee some love and add Austenland to your Goodreads shelves! Who are you thankful for? Add your links below and visit the other participating bloggers
