A Month of Giving Thanks

Hosted by Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun and Michelle @ Because Reading. #30daysofThanks is originally hosted by The Geeky Blogger and with Felicia’s permission, we adopted something similar, and hope you’ll join us!

A Month of Giving Thanks is a month-long challenge. Every day from November 1st to November 30th I will be sharing the love and being thankful by spotlighting some bloggers and books that I’ve been thankful for this year.

Please note that there is no way that I will be able to express my gratitude to everyone of you in just 30 days. I love everyone who visits the blog and even if I don’t get to single you this year, please know that I appreciate you!

A Month of Giving Thanks Day 14

Today I’d like to thank:

ChapterBreak.net
Second Run Reviews

Ok, today I’m combining two blogs. Why? One – I don’t have enough room for everyone, so any chance I get for a logical (at least in my head) combining, I’m taking it! Two – they have two things in common that I want to gush about. But first, about the ladies…

Chapter Break is run by Julie and Rose. They’re both so kind and I love swooning over their That’s Why He Said Thursday posts – they sure know how to find some heart moving quotes. I love the way their personality comes through – especially in their weekly Chat Between Chapters discussion posts!

Terri @ Second Run Reviews is a relatively new blog friend, but is already love her. She’s a really talented photographer and you can see your own glimpses in her weekly Scenic Sunday posts. I just love seeing the moments she captures. She’s also been fun to chat with in twitter – especially as we push through ReviewAThon weekends!

These two blogs fit together well because – one, they’re going to be co-hosting a year long challenge in 2015 focusing on reading those books you already own. They haven’t released all the details yet, but with close to 600 books on my “owned-but-not-read” shelf I’m super excited to join their challenge.

The other reason – main reason – I grouped them together was that they both deserve to be in a post with this book. When I think of this book series they’re at the top of my list because they all love it as much as I do (okay, probably more)…

Today I’m thankful I discovered:

This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence.
A Month of Giving Thanks Day 14Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Genres: Historical, Romance, Science Fiction

Goodreads
five-stars

The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon--when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach--an "outlander"--in a Scotland torn by war and raiding Highland clans in the year of Our Lord...1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into intrigues and dangers that may threaten her life...and shatter her heart. For here she meets James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, and becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Get it on Amazon

So Outlander has so many fans, most have read it and know how long but also great the story is. If you’re one of the few, like me, who are late check out my review and see if it doesn’t convince you that it’s time to try it out!! I’ve also been reviewing the episodes as the come out on Starz with my “Outlander Thoughts” – which is pretty faithful to the book so far, if you aren’t ready to pick up this HUGE book.

Go give Chapter Break and Second Run Reviews some love and add Outlander to your Goodreads shelves! Who are you thankful for? Add your links below and visit the other participating bloggers πŸ™‚

Yay for Chapter Break and Second Run Reviews! I’m glad you found them, too. I follow Julie and Rose, but I’ll have to check out Terri’s blog. πŸ™‚ As for Outlander…I’m late to the party, too, Berls. I own the book but still haven’t read it. And one of my best friends has been hounding me for like 10 years to read it. I will, I will…

A challenge for reading owned books?! I totally need that in my life. I’ve been making an effort to read books I actually own, but adding more motivation couldn’t hurt. πŸ™‚

OUTLANDER! YES! I really need to get back to that series. Book 2 ended on such a cliffhanger and I never picked up the third!

I like Terri of Second Run Review, but not sure I know Chapter Break so I will run over and give it a check. πŸ™‚ Still not been lured into reading Outlander though the TV show is okay. I have looked at the reviews and I think for as many people who love it there are quite a few who hated it. :)I have thought about trying it on audio but the 40hrs of listening pleasure has put it down on the list…lol. πŸ™‚
