Sunday Post | 61st Edition

October 26, 2014 Sunday Post 57

Welcome to the 61st Edition of My Sunday Post!
Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

This past week has been a bit of ups and downs. On the up, I raised over $70 in Dewey’s 24 hour readathon! Since I’m actually purchasing books for them – it makes the donated money go further apparently – I don’t have that finished yet, but hope to be able to share that update. On the down side, Buffy (my 2 year old dog) has not been feeling well. On Wednesday I took her to the vet and nothing MAJOR is wrong, thank goodness. But she scared the blazes out of me – you don’t realize just how much you love your furbabies until they’re sick. Thankfully she just taking some medicine and eating a diet of boiled chicken breast for a few days to let her tummy settle and then she should be fine. Phew!

On the blog, I’m feeling pretty good about where things are. I have reviews scheduled all the way through December! That’s a HUGE load off! I’ve got a bit of commenting and visiting to catch up on today, but nothing out of hand and I feel confident I’ll be able to go into Monday still ahead. Yay! Also I’m getting really excited about the Month of Giving Thanks Michelle and I are hosting in November. Remember, you don’t HAVE to sign up to participate – if you do you’ll get an email reminder from me, that’s all – and you don’t HAVE to follow any kind of format. You can participate all 30 days, weekends, weekdays, 1 day, whatever you choose. The idea is just to spread the love. Hope you’ll join us in some form 🙂

I guess that’s it – hope everyone had a great week!

I hope Buffy is feeling much better, Berls. It’s so hard when our pets are sick. And I’m so impressed you’re so far ahead blog-wise. I’m also the tiniest bit jealous. I wish I was that far ahead. I hope your week is going well!

    • Berls

Thanks, she’s doing great! It’s great to be ahead on book reviews – I just wish I were ahead on everything. It seems I can’t get my act together enough to be current on comments, current visiting other blogs, ahead on posts and reviews. Sigh. I don’t know how other do it, I’m just not there yet.

I am glad your doggy is going to be okay. I am having such a horrible flea time with my babies and I think I am going to have to break down and try the 18.00 pill to see if it works but I have 6 dogs so that is going to be way expensive, so going to try it on one first (the one that has it the worst) and see if it works first. 🙂

Thanks for mentioning my MMM Oh my!

You must have really loved The Selection since you grabbed up the rest of them!! I might have to give it a try some day. 🙂

Thanks Stormi! I’m so relieved that she’s back to normal – really scared me there! For fleas, I do the Advantage once a month on the back of her neck and she’s never had fleas ever, so maybe that would work? $18 a pill a dog for six dogs is a lot of money, so good luck!

I did love The Selection and I’ve already all the books (but not the short stories, I’m saving them for a rainy day). Definitely recommend them 🙂

Wow you have you are super organized!! The most I’ve gotten a head is 2 weeks lol. Our dog has gotten sick in the past and it is so hard seeing them not feeling well. I hope your dog feels better soon! I’m looking forward to your Stitching Snow review. I was reading it but I stopped because I couldn’t focus on the story (I wasn’t feeling good). So hopefully you liked it and I can read it again soon. Have a great week!!

LOL this is a first for me Kathy! I wish that was all posts scheduled through December, but having reviews done is still a major relief. Let’s hope this sticks 🙂

Thanks, Buffy is back to herself and I’m so relieved. She really scared me! I enjoyed Stitching Snow (review posted today actually), but I do know what you mean about not getting into it at first. I hope you can give it another try 🙂 Have a great week!

Thanks Bea! I hope your fur baby is doing well, I know how nerve-wracking it can be to not be sure how they’re feeling. If only they could tell us!

I’m so excited about my reviews – this is a first for me! Fingers crossed is sticks! Have a great week 🙂

You have through December scheduled?? You are my blogging hero! That’s great about the money from Dewey and I’m glad to hear that nothing’s too bad with your furbaby. I hope you love the Cass series. I’m thinking about trying it out on audio. I want to read it but I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to get to in print form. Have a great week!

Hehe thanks! Well – I don’t have ALL my posts through December scheduled, but I have reviews into December scheduled, so that’s a huge weight off. It’s a first for me, let’s hope it keeps up!

I had so much fun with The Selection series, I read the first one during Dewey’s and knew I had to get the others ASAP. And then I blew through them too. I would lay in bed after we turned the lights off and contemplate if I would wake my BF up if I got out of bed and went to the living room to keep reading, that’s how badly I didn’t want to put them down! So I recommend them, though I know they aren’t for everyone 😀 Have a great week Katherine!

Thanks, it’s a first for me, so I’m on cloud nine right now 🙂 I’ll send some of the happy vibes along, hopefully they help you too 😛

I’m so relieved Buffy’s doing okay – it’s so hard when they get sick because you just don’t know how serious it is. If only she could tell me, “It’s just a tummy ache” or “I need a doctor”. *sigh* I guess I can’t complain, though – she’s okay! Have a great week Alma 🙂

High five! Isn’t it an amazing feeling? So far I’m doing a pretty good job getting those reviews written within 24 hours of finishing a book (even if I don’t setup the post that hard part is done).

I know! I wish they were at least coming back in like January or February. April is SO LONG! 🙁

Thanks! I’m so glad I’ve FINALLY figured out that review right after reading approach. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but just couldn’t find a way to do well. But I’ve figured it out now 🙂

It’s rough seeing our babies sick – I hope Odette’s doing well now too! And yes – OMG you need to read the other Selection books… I blew through them. I haven’t read the stories yet, though. I may save them for right before the next book comes out, just to get me back in the mood 😛

I envy you strong, dedicated bloggers who can schedule ahead and have so much of the month and next filled in! I never have more than one or two posts scheduled, LOL! Talk about a seat of the pants approach to blogging 🙂

Good for you raising that money in the readathon! And I’m glad to hear Buffy is doing well. I have many cats and dogs and there always seems to be something going on with someone at any given moment, sigh…
    Enjoy the week!

  6. Lola

Congrats on raising so much money during the readathon. That’s so sad your dog’s not feeling that well, I am always so worried about my pets as well, especially when they’re sick. I hope Buffy is feeling better soon!

It’s such a good feeling when you’re scheduling posts in advance! I have quite soem posts shceduled for next month and a few Lola’s Ramblings posts for December and it’s just an aweosme feelign knowing you’re ahead. I am participating in the Blog Ahead challenge to make sure it stays that way!

I haven’t read any of the Selection books so far, but I heard good things about them! I hope you enjoy your new books!

Thanks Lola. It’s such a relief that Buffy’s doing well – she really scared me for a bit! If only our fur babies could Tell us what’s up!

Good luck with the bloggy NaNoWriMo, I’m really hoping to get ahead a full month for once. It feels good to have all those reviews done and if I could just get a full month of posts to go with them it would be a relief!

I ended up blasting through the Selection books – they were super fun. Have a great week Lola 🙂

Aw poor Quigley, allergies stink! I’m glad it was something simple though! Buffy’s doing great, thank goodness! She scared me 🙁 Thanks – I’m so glad to be so ahead on reviews, that’s very new for me. I’m sure it won’t last LOL. Have a great week Laura.

    • Berls

Thanks Sarah, it feels great to be ahead for once 🙂 It’s such a relief that Buffy’s doing okay – it’s so hard to know what to do when they aren’t acting Nora. Like you said, if only they could tell us. Have a great week!

  7. Michelle @ Because Reading

I am rather exited about the bloggy NaNoWriMo 30 posts ahead is a must do for me. I have to make a list tonight with what I plan to do for it.

I realized you are doing NaNoWriMo also? Maybe next year I’ll do that too. I might have a story in my head that need to come out.

Thanks, me too 🙂 I can imagine, especially since she’s older. I’m going to ne a wreck when Buffy gets older, she’s only two now. They just become such a big part of our lives – Buffy is always with me. Like right now, she’s curled up on my shoulder. I guess your horse can’t do that, but you know what I mean LOL

I am really curious to see what you will think about Selection series. I only read the first one and I wasn’t that much impressed.

I’m glad that your pet will be okay – you really do get attached to them.

Thanks Glass – I’m so relieved Buffy’s doing so well. She’s my baby! I ended up loving The Selection series, but I do understand why they don’t work for a lot of people. It’s multiple love triangles and that alone is a big no-no for many, but for some reason they just sucked me in.

Thanks Kimba, I’m so proud of myself. It’s just reviews, so I have lots of other posts to do still. But reviews take the longest anyway, so it’s a real achievement for me 🙂 Someday I’ll be as on top of things as you though, you’re my organized blogger idol! It’s such a relief that Buffy’s feeling better, she scared me!
