Sunday Post | 58th Edition

September 14, 2014 Sunday Post 36

Welcome to the 58th Edition of My Sunday Post!Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

I feel like last week went by so fast! So I never heard from the job, despite sending thank yous, so I guess I just didn’t get it 🙁 On the flip side, I had a talk with my grad school adviser and it looks like I’m not in any danger of losing my funding right now afterall, so that’s a relief at least. I still wish I had a job instead, but at least I have income coming in to pay the bills. What more can I ask for, right?

I’m submitting my short story to the competition today, so new reason to cross your fingers for me (please). This is my first attempt to publish anything and I’ve worked so hard on it – I swear, it’s gone through a good 16 drafts with edits. Last I heard they already had more than 200 entries – and they’re taking 20-25 stories – so I’ve got a pretty big pool. I feel like I’ve succeeded, though, even if I don’t get into the anthology. Because I’ve finally taken a chance on my dream of being a published author. Eeek!

Well – I think that’s it for now, so have a great week all!

Kimba had a great How the Heck Did You Do That? post this week about running giveaways. All kinds of great tips!

Kimba (Caffeinated Book Reviewer) and Jennifer (Book Shelfery) are hosting the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon again this year! I had so much fun with this last year, so I definitely need to dig up some holiday reads to join in. Trying to avoid Netgalley…

More goodies from Nozegraze this week! Ashley talks about how to Block Spam Comments Akismet is Missing! I’m so excited to try this out because I’ve had a lot lately.

Oh a lot of great books! and Kudos for staying away from Netgalley I am trying but it’s like this vortex that keep sucking me I signed up for the Ho Ho Ho read-a-thon because I had already grab some Christmas ones from netgalley so figured it would be a good time to get them done and it looked fun.

Love that you got two Molly Harper ones!! Squee! I liked them both.

I read Ashley’s post and tried that Stop Spam Comment plugin and it ended up being the problem why nobody could be careful if you try those..ugh. 🙁

I wanted to grab up some on that cool sale but extra monies but that could be a blessing in disguise because I really don’t need

Sorry you didn’t get the job but I am glad you still have funding! Good luck on the short story! Crossing my fingers for you!

    Have a great week!

Thanks Stormi – I’m hoping to hear something soon (hopefully something good). Keeping my fingers crossed.

The stop spam thing got me too – it’s weird because it goes all crazy about the java script. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to deal with the spam :/

I LOVE Molly Harper/Amanda Ronconi, so I’m not surprised they were good – looking forward to tearing through them! Hope all is well (I should be back soon – miss everyone!)

How frustrating about the job! I always hate when I told that they will contact me only to never hear something. So frustrating. That’s great about the funding. Huge congratulations for submitting your short story! Your attitude is great and so true!
Great books this week! I definitely want to read more Molly Harper and am curious about the Julie James book. Have a great week!

Sorry about your job falling through–dang, sounded like you had it. Glad you can continue with your college funding though.
Didn’t know you had a short story ready for publication. Where are you submitting it? The fact that you have it spit-and-polished done is the reward here–kudos to you for taking the next step!

    • Berls

I know, I really thought so too 🙁 Oh well, it was still a good interview experience. I submitted my short story to Escamilla Publishing’s Into the Future Anthology competition – I should hear something soon – they’re still reading, but I think they’ll have decisions in the next couple weeks. Eeek! Fingers crossed!

I am so sorry you didn’t got the job and that’s so anoying they didn’t even had the decency to reply back to let you know. But yay for the good news you don’t loose your funding.
And that’s so awesome you managed to write a whole short story, that only is already a big achievement. I hope you win the contest, good luck!
Nice book haul you got this week! I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

So they ended up sending rejection letters via snail mail – which is why it took so long to hear something. But at least I know. Thanks about the short story – I’m waiting to hear back, they’re currently reading submissions, so my fingers are tightly crossed.

Nice! I got Kim’s book as well! I was surprised that it arrived so early since I ordered it from her store to get signed! But it did! Now I just need to read my review books so I can read this one!

Hope you enjoy all your new reads!
