I can’t believe that Fantasy is More Fun is turning one y’all! I guess it’s really true – time flies when you’re having fun!
A year ago today I decided it was time to take my love of books that extra step. I setup a blog on Blogger and started posting reviews for all the books I had written reviews on over at Shelfari already. The first day I didn’t post anything – just got setup. Then the second day, bam! I posted 5 reviews! I was a little over ambitious and learned fairly quickly that it would be wiser to spread out those reviews.
My blog also looked so incredibly amateurish. I’ll admit- it was kind of ugly. To this day, if you type in www.fantasyismorefun.com (so add in that www) and you’ll get a brief glimpse of the old blog before getting bounced here. Thankfully I talked my brother into redoing my design for me and isn’t it so much better? I quickly realized that this wasn’t a hobby that was going to fade out. I very quickly became blog obsessed – I would stay up half the night writing posts, reading other blogs, etc. And then I’d wake up super early, excited to read comments and reply to them. I swear, I went on hardly no sleep for weeks because I was too excited about my blog.
I also started reading horror stories about Blogger during those first few weeks – and since I knew this was something that I wasn’t about to quit – I made the very rash decision to setup my blog at WordPress. I didn’t have more than maybe 10 followers and didn’t know a thing about self-hosting, but I was going to do it! And by August 10th I was setup at WordPress. It’s amazing how much I’ve learned since then – I didn’t know a thing about html and now I write all my posts that way. I didn’t now anything about CSS – had never even heard of it – and now I actually know how to add my own details through a child theme. I’ve learned so much in this past year and the blog has been an incredible treat for me.
One of the biggest treats has been making blogger friends – like my COYER Co-Host Michelle @ Because Reading – and exposure to books I doubt I would have discovered without the blog. I’ve come to know some really fantastic authors and I’m so lucky that several of them have gladly handed over copies of eBooks for me to share with y’all this month.
