Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

Man another busy week!!! I celebrated my 30th birthday on Monday – some friends and family got together and went to Babe’s Chicken for dinner. I saw a couple friends I hadn’t seen in over a year! And I met another’s husband for the first time! It was a lot of fun… until they told the waiter that it was my birthday. They put a chicken hat on my head and made me flap my arms like wings…. And someone took a video, so I guess I have to share. I was laughing so hard! It’s taken on a smart phone, so not the best quality.

I also got the best birthday present ever from my BF:

Birthday Gift

Yep! That’s $100! Best BF ever!

On Tuesday I went to another bookclub meeting for the first time – this one is called CoverGirls book club – and it such a big fun group! Felicia also belongs to this book club, although she wasn’t able to go this week. It was tons of fun meeting people just as excited about books as I am. And I got all setup to attend Buns and Roses – a literacy auction held locally – this October. I’m super excited because Kim Harrison is the speaker (she NEVER seems to come this far west, so I’m excited!) AND we have a table sitting with Jennifer Ashley! There’s a ton of other authors that will be there, too – so I’m really looking forward to it 🙂

Then on Friday – which was Friday the 13th with a full moon BTW – we went on another 5k! This time it was a zombie run at night. My stepson is OBSESSED with zombies. When I met him he was 4 years old and I swear, the first thing he really told me about was zombies. We had a great time and I managed to do it in 45 minutes this time – a 15 minute improvement from my previous 5ks. Here’s all of us before and after the race:

Zombie Run Before

Before the Race
Back row: My brother Philip, Me
Front row: My step-son Frank, his aunt Destiny

Zombie Run After

After the Race
Me, Frank, Philip, Destiny

If you’re interested, my step-son has a YouTube Channel and actually made a short video about the race. It’s fun but you have to get to about halfway to really see the race stuff, since he does some pre-race talking. It’s super fun to watch though 🙂

And that’s it for me – except a quick reminder that COYER Summer Vacation starts this Saturday, June 21st!! If you haven’t signed up yet, it’s not too late! Sign up here!

Holy cow you had a busy and awesome week! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! You are a MUCH better sport than I am. If someone had tried to put a chicken on my head and make me cluck . . . I don’t even know, LOL. And as much as zombies freak me out, I have to admit that a zombie run sounds like the coolest thing EVER. AND a new book club? With Felicia (even if she wasn’t there this time)? That’s pretty friggin’ cool too. Another blogger and I discovered that we live in the same area awhile back, and we met for coffee last week. Not as much fun as book club with local blogger friends, but still, it was really fun to meet someone in real life that I had been talking books to for months. And I can’t wait to hear about your literacy auction in October–again, that sounds AWESOME. Best Sunday Post EVER, Berls 😉

I’m playing catch up on comments, but I still wanted you to know I appreciated your comment. So please forgive my tardy reply!

I remember reading this comment way back when (it came through on my cell phone, hence the not replying right away) and thinking “Gah! I <3 this girl!" LOL anyways 1 month and some change later...Thank you, I had a very good birthday, even if I was feeling a bit of the getting older blues. I guess the chicken dance was a good reminder that it's how young you feel not how old you are, right? The zombie run was so cool (I'm not the biggest zombie fan either) oh and the book club is so great! I've now seen Felicia in person 3 times and it's just too cool to connect with bloggers in real life. Hope to meet you someday too 🙂

Thanks Michelle! I know how that goes – I keep telling myself I’ll restrict my book buying and it’s going… ok. LOL

Thanks for the link love! My older stepson also loves Zombies. He’s 18 now and living out in the world, but came over last weekend and asked if he could get “his” zombie books LOL!

The younger stepson is still working on his reading, but asked for my paperback copy of The Giver last weekend. He’s 10. Who am I to say no?!

Thanks Ginny! I had a great week – so busy. I’m really enjoying my gift too – it’s funny, I’m thinking twice about every book I buy because I don’t want it gone too fast 🙂

I’m looking forward to Written in Red – I’m pretty sure I’m going to like it because I started it on audio and loved the concept. The audio just wasn’t working for me for a myriad of reasons. Disappointing because I’ve heard great things about the audio, but for me, it was TOO VIVID. LOL Have a great week!

Thanks Bea! It such an awesome gift, right!?! I’m looking forward to Written in Red – I started it on audio and loved the concept. The audio just wasn’t working for because it was TOO VIVID. But I didn’t want to give up on the book – it was too good to quit, so I got the hardback from the library instead!

Thanks Katherine! I did have a lot of fun 🙂 I’m not really a runner either, I walk and jog off and on – it was a blast and there were zombies all over the place to keep things interesting. The gift card is TOTALLY a dream come true, I will be enjoying books for quite a while!! LOL Have a great week 🙂

Happy Birthday. And your funny video made me smile on an otherwise very gloomy day here in England.
Also loved your pictures from the race – you all look like you enjoyed yourself so much. I did a 10K once and I think it took us just under 2 hrs – so 45mins for 5K is fab! (I hope Zombies didn’t chase you 🙂
Have a great week and Happy Reading.

Thanks Peggy 🙂 LOL yeah that video is one that will probably make me laugh for a long time, or turn red! The 5k was a lot of fun – they had zombies all over the course that did chase us, but that was part of the fun 🙂 It probably helped up my time too lol! Have a great week Peggy!

  4. Michelle Parsons

Happy Birthday again!!! You need to post pictures of the chicken on your head 🙂 or just send it to me lol

I would love to do those runs, I wish they had them awround hear. Maybe I should move to Texas 😉 I have to tell my son about your sons You-Tube channel. I think Ryan would like it!!!

Thank you again for all your help yesterday! You really are the Best 🙂 I still laugh out loud at that!

Tell your BF I said Happy Father’s Day and Your Dad too.
Have a great week! We need a phone chat this week!

Thanks Michelle! I don’t actually have any pictures of me in the chicken hat – just the video… and I’m not posting that on FB LOL. Too many people I don’t want to see it on my friends list (I need to make a fake FB for all the people I really want to share things with…)

I’m sure they have 5ks near you, but they wouldn’t be near as much fun alone. You really do just need to move to Texas. I keep telling you!! Maybe it’s something your kids would like to do with you? And definitely tell Ryan and Frank’s YouTube Channel – Frank would love it and he always answers comments. How cool if the boys got to be friends through YouTube!

You’re very welcome- I learned a lot and may do a fun question post about the stuff I learned. Could help someone 🙂

Phone date for sure, we need to talk COYER details! I’ll text you later!

I adored Code Name Verity, by which of course I mean “I bawled my eyes out”. xD I listened it it a few months ago and the accents were just the best in the world. I loved the combo of German and Scottish and English. x) I hope you enjoy it! And woot woot for awesome friends who give gift vouchers.

Thanks Vilia 🙂 And yeah, I’m not fast either – I alternated walking and jogging that and still finished in the zombie time zone (anything over 30 minutes and you were a zombie). It was fun though 🙂 Have a great week!

  7. Milka

Happy Birthday! 🙂 That birthday video looks both super embarrassing and super awesome – my biggest fear always when going out for dinner on my birthday is that someone has told the waiter. 😀
That Zombie run thing looks amazing as well – there was one like that in the city I study at, but unfortunately I did not have anyone to join me. Maybe next year 🙂

    Have a good Sunday!

Thanks Milka! Yeah it was super embarrassing – but I had a good time too. That’s what I get for not paying attention to everything everyone says to the waiter!

I hope you get to do a zombie run in the future – it was a blast! But it’s true, any kind of 5k without other people probably wouldn’t be that much fun. Have a great week 🙂
