It’s always a pleasure to have Felicity Heaton here at Fantasy is More Fun and I’m excited for you to see what she has in store for us today. I’ve fallen for her Eternal Mates series, but I haven’t yet read any of the Vampires Realm series. So when I got the invitation to participate in the tour for her latest book in the series, Hunger, I asked her to let those of us who’ve missed out on the fun to date get a little glimpse of the world and people in it. As always, what she has to share is both fun and exciting. Enjoy!

About the Vampires Realm series

by Felicity Heaton

It’s great to be here at Fantasy is More Fun today as part of the Hunger Virtual Book Tour celebrating the release of the latest book in my Vampires Realm series of paranormal romance novels.

Today, I’m going to be talking more about the world of the Vampires Realm series and the factions involved featured in it.

But before we get to the main event, I want to introduce myself. I’m a British paranormal romance author and a New York Times and USA Today best-seller. I have been writing since 2005, and went indie in 2006. I love to write big worlds, populated by vampires, shifters, demons, fae and angels, and I have several series. This tour is about the Vampires Realm series, which focuses on the world of the seven pureblood vampire families of Europe, the werewolves fighting for their freedom, the weakling vampires, and the vampire hunters determined to destroy them all.

Now, on with the show…

I talked a little in the first stop on the tour about the series, and today I’m going to expand on that and write about the different factions involved in the series.

First, you have the vampires. There are two separate species of vampire in the series. The series focuses on the pureblood vampire families, of which there are seven separate ones, and I’m going to discuss them in more detail in another stop on the tour. These pureblood vampires are extremely powerful, live in families complete with hierarchies and leaders, and rarely mix with the other bloodlines. They view humans as a food source for the most part, and the weakling vampires with disdain, and the vampire hunters as just a means of controlling the weakling vampire population. They have rules they obey and their own police force of sorts—the Law Keepers. They’re the apex predator on our planet and most of us don’t even know they exist.

The weakling vampires have all the traits of the pureblood vampires, but they lack the strength and superiors senses, agility and speed of their stronger kin. These vampires live in small packs, attempting to avoid running into the purebloods, loathing them from the shadows as they live their immortal lives surrounded by opulence and comfort. But it’s not only the purebloods they have to worry about. The vampires hunters primarily target them too, knowing they’re no match for a pureblood either and willing to focus on taking down the vampires they’re more equipped to deal with. The weaklings are still more powerful than humans though, and can hold their own against the best of their hunters.

Second, you have the werewolves. Most of the werewolves in Europe are owned by the seven pureblood vampire families, held in compounds and used as guardians to protect them in the daylight hours. Few have escaped this fate though and they have formed an extended pack called the free werewolves. The free werewolves are led by Dmitri, one of the oldest werewolves in existence, and a man who is actually mated to a pureblood vampire, Mia. Dmitri will do all in his power to free all werewolves from slavery, but he has recognised the power of diplomacy. During MASQUERADE, we learned that Dmitri has been working with the bloodline closest to his bastion, the mighty Validus, to begin convincing the other bloodlines to employ werewolves as opposed to enslave them.

Third, you have the hunters. Section Seven is the leading organisation of vampire hunters formed to combat the seven pure bloodlines of Europe, and also the weaklings. They are extensive and resourceful, and have shown that they will employ any tactic in order to elevate themselves to a level where they can take on the purebloods—including using vampire DNA to tamper with their hunters, giving them enhanced abilities and strength. Their attempts at playing God have led to them becoming a threat to the pureblood vampires and they are beginning to tip the balance of power and level the playing field.

As well as the vampires, the werewolves and the hunters, our world is populated by demons straight out of Hell, angels, and witches. It’s a dangerous world out there, and sometimes it’s not the vampires we have to worry about.

I hope you enjoyed this insight into the different factions in the Vampires Realm paranormal romance series. Keep following the tour to find out more about the seven pure bloodlines, read excerpts from the latest book in the series, Hunger, and interviews with the hero and heroine!

Betrayed by one of her own and turned into a vampire, hunter Eve is consumed by her hunger for vengeance and has spent five years surviving hell, driven to take the life of the man she once loved. But just as she is about to close in on the hunter-turned-vampire, an event is set in motion that threatens to see him slip beyond her grasp forever—the leader of her bloodline has sent an escort to bring her to the family’s mansion. To a nest of the very creatures she once hunted and loathes.

A vampire assassin hardened by centuries of service, Tor is a man of discipline and loyalty, never straying from his mission or the rules set out for him, and has purged all his weaknesses, including his emotions.

But the moment he meets the broken, fiery female he is to escort to Oslo, something dangerous awakens in him, something possessive and powerful, and when he is pulled into a deadly game of cat and mouse with the man who betrayed her, Tor discovers he will do anything to protect the woman slowly claiming his heart and give her the vengeance she desires—even break all the rules.

Can Eve embrace her new vampire nature in order to have her revenge and find a reason to live again in Tor? Can Tor and Eve stop the man who betrayed her and the deaths of thousands of innocents? Or will he succeed in creating a new army of hybrid vampires who will rise up against the purebloods?
