Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

This past week we announced the details for COYER Summer Vacation. It’s going to be a blast – check it out and sign up here. We’ve relaxed the rules for Summer Vacation so pretty much anyone will be able to participate at their own level.

This has been yet another busy week at home too. I’ve been working on editing my book and one of my beta readers has sent their feedback, so I’ll be working on that this upcoming week. My mother in-law also came into town on Thursday and she’s staying with us for a few days – she’ll probably be bouncing around between all the kids. I think she’s great, but there is always a certain amount of stress when family comes to visit. But the big event this week I’m actually in the middle of as I write this and is the reason I will be very delayed in comments until Monday (more delayed than usual). My mom discovered her birth father’s family a couple years ago through Ancestry.com. It was unfortunately after he had passed away, but she’s been talking to her half-siblings. This weekend she’s meeting one of them in person for the first time. My brother and I came along for support – we drove a few hours down to Round Rock, TX where they are visiting their son. So we’re meeting him and his family with her. A bit stressful and kind of cool. I’m happy for my mom to have this opportunity to connect with her family – I know she’s always felt a bit of an emptiness from not knowing her father. It’s a bit strange for me, because I never did feel that emptiness. To me, her stepfather has always been my grandfather, her stepbrothers have been my uncles. But I do know I’m glad that my brother and I came with her – she’s an emotional wreck. They’re sharing stories about when her father left her family and went to his new family and she’s learning about all those years she missed. So you can imagine the emotional roller coaster she’s on.

Anyway – we come back from this trip Sunday evening (today) and then I’ll be back with my mother-in-law for the week. So I’ll have another busy week. That’s it for me – y’all have a great week!!

Thanks Peggy – it really was exciting to get my book back all marked up – someone’s read it!! And she said that she’d give it 3.5 stars as is… which is better than I hoped for with my first draft 🙂 Anyway – hope you’re having a good week!

Thanks Kimba! And yes, I’m glad we were there with her – she gets very nervous in social situations and I think if we hadn’t been there to push her she would have hid in her hotel room a large portion of the weekend just from the stress of it. But she didn’t and I’m really glad she’s getting to know this part of her family 🙂

It definitely sounds like you had a busy week but it’s wonderful that you are there to support your Mom and she has the opportunity for closure and a new beginning.

You grabbed some great books this past week. I LOVE the Kate Daniels series. One of my favs!

I hope you have a terrific week!

Thanks Ginny! I haven’t read any of the Kate Daniels series yet, but I KNOW I’m going to, so anytime I see one of them on sale I grab it up. Maybe by time I get to start the series I’ll be able to blow right through it 🙂

Yay! I’m so glad you’re going to join us Greg! The trip went well – thanks. My mom is starting to fill in some blanks about herself by meeting this side of her family and I’m really happy for her, though it’s quite emotional I think it’s for the best. 🙂 Hope you’re having a great week!

Wow, so many new audio books! Enjoy.

Your mother must be so stressed. I hope everything goes well and she’s happy with the outcome. It was awfully good of you and your brother to go with her; I’m sure she appreciates it.

Thanks Bea! The trip was a success thankfully – her half-brother is quite nice and they really hit it off. A few moments got really stressful for her.. .I think it was just emotional overload. But I think she’s really glad she want and is glad she took this next step in forming a relationship with that part of her family.

Ha! I could use a clone too! I’m trying to get to a point where I at least stay semi-current on comments, but it’s so hard!

And yes – that drive is NO fun. We got stuck in traffic on 35 for 2 hours making what should have been a 3 hour drive a 5 hour one. Gotta love 35 🙁

Oh I’m glad Succubus Blues is good! It’s a series I haven’t actually read, but looked good and I couldn’t resist the great deal!

I don’t know why my comment box is doing that to you – it always shows up for me, but something isn’t working right on the front end. If only I had even a tiny bit of technical know-how I could probably figure this out! Sorry 🙁 Just know I do get the links 🙂

No don’t ban me from audible LOL! I’d die!! Though I know own over a hundred audio books and haven’t read even half of them…. so maybe I should stop? Nah!

I’m happy your mother got this chance, even though it might be emotionally difficult. My aunt went through the same a couple of years ago, but now she’s really tight with the siblings she never knew before.

    Good luck with your book!

I’m so happy that your mom has a chance to meet her family and it’s so sad that she didn’t have a change to meet her father 🙁 I really hope she will meet all the family. I’m so glad your book is coming along! I had no idea you were writing one. Good luck :))

Thanks Tanja! Yeah, it’s so sad that she didn’t get to meet her dad. She discovered his family two years after he died and when she put the details together, she realized that she had been in the town he lived right before he died – so she came so close. But I’m really glad she’s connecting with her siblings now and with all the stories, she’s learning a lot about her dad. And that she’s a lot like him, which I think is pretty cool 😛

It’s always stressful when family are over to visit. I feel for your Mum, finding out things about her father would have to be hard, big hugs for her.
I’m going to join in to Coyer Summer Vacation challenge. It feels weird for me to say that seeing as it’s coming into winter here in Australia, sounds like fun nonetheless.
    Have a great week.
