Sunday Post | 39th Edition

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

It’s good to back on the blog this week – as you may have noticed I’m still very behind replying to comments, but I’m working on it. I’m using my Missing Reply plugin to catch up and since it gives me comments newest to oldest I’m actually responding to the most current replies first. That’s good in that the more recent comments are waiting weeks for replies, but bad in that who knows when I’ll actually get to those ones from when I first fell into my slump. I’ve read them all though, so I’m sorry if it seems a very long time since you commented and you suddenly get a reply weeks later!

In my personal world I’m getting ready for another trip back to St. Louis to meet with advisers and keep everyone happy. These trips feel very pointless, but it’s what they require of me for living in Dallas, so I keep doing it. This time we have a little two day retreat with my fellowship group so I’ll be camping for the first time in my life. Should be very interesting. So I’ll be a little bit hit and miss with the blog starting Wednesday until the following Tuesday. I’m taking the train again, so I’ll be traveling in slow comfort 🙂

This missing reply plugin is such a life saver! I not only know excatly how many I need to reply to (178 at the moment… eek!) but I an just go to the comments page in WP and reply to them all right there. So much easier!

I’m playing catch up on comments, but I still wanted you to know I appreciated your comment. So please forgive my tardy reply!

I totally did 🙂 I don’t think I would even consider traveling without books, they are essential to survival LOL

It was GREAT for reading 🙂 It’s one of the things I like best about traveling by train. And yeah, I’m finally catching up, two + months later…

Thanks Carol 🙂 Hope you’re having a good day since everything else is pretty irrelevant at this point LOL

  1. Kristin @ My ParaHangover

Congrats on your first Edelweiss approval!! I still celebrate mine b/c most of my Edelweiss books are from whitelisted pubs (I work at a library so I cheat). I have one book I requested so I’m in a waiting game right now *crosses fingers*. It’s Holly Black’s new one 😀

Have fun camping with your group – sounds amazing!!

Thanks Kristin! Edelweiss approvals feel like such an accomplishment because they don’t approve as quickly/easily as Netgalley (at least in my experience). Good luck with your request!!

Weird, I don’t know why it didn’t want to accept your link, sorry about that 🙁 I’m really looking forward to my haul – I’ll get started on some of them next week probably 🙂

Good luck camping, I never went camping because of the bug. I went to band camp and that was gross but no tents. Sometimes it sounds fun but if I want wilderness I’ll go to the wilderness lodge in Disney LOL 🙂

Congrats on your edelweiss book getting and YAY your out of your slump but boo you are so behind but yay you will have time to read on the train but boo you have to travel again but yay it will be over soon and you wont have to anymore 😉

Have a safe trip my friend!
Enjoy all your new reads <3

Thanks Terri! That’s what I’m thinking – and since I take the train it’s like 13 hours of reading time both ways. I mean, I have to sleep in there, but still, it’s way more time to read than I would have at home!

I hope you enjoy camping. I’m a city girl so large amounts of nature with trees and things tend to make me very wary. Last (and not-so-funnily enough, only) time I went camping, a herd of cows crossed a partially dried up creek into the area we were camping in and knocked the tents over.

LOL, congratulation on first Edelweiss approval – I hope it will be a great start. 🙂

Thanks Glass! I’m really excited about the approval, especially since I REALLY REALLY wanted to read that book. I’m nervous about the camping, mainly because it’s with a group of people that I don’t know that well. Fingers crossed that it’s fun!

Thanks Greg – I don’t know how I’ve managed to never make it camping before, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. This trip isn’t going to be very rustic at all I don’t think. It’s more of a retreat and we have a cabin-like thingy we’ll be staying in. Although my family is trying to plan a real camping trip – tents! – for later this summer and I’m really excited about that.

      Have a great week!

I love the plugin – I feel a lot less stressed out about knowing if I’m making it to all the comments and it’s nice to know how many I still need to reply to (even if that number is ridiculously high right now). I love this new way of posting books, it’s so much cleaner – thanks for the inspiration!!
