The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.
COYER is officially over, so we’ll be announcing the winners later this morning. Thanks to everyone who participated, it was a blast and we look forward to doing it again soon!
At home this upcoming week is always a week of mixed emotions for me because somehow the happiest and saddest moments fall on the same day – April 6th (today). It’s the anniversary of the death of someone I loved very much and for years it was only painful. And then, 9 years ago, I met my boyfriend and his son’s birthday just so happens to be April 6th. It brings an unexpected joy to a sad day, because I love him as much as I loved her. My step-son, Franky, turns 14 today and I couldn’t be prouder of the young man he is going up to be. Even if he is SUCH A TEENAGER! LOL!
Anyway – Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen got me through the days after her death. It was her favorite book and she was a total Jane (I’m a Lizzy, or so I like to think!). Since then, every year I read Pride and Prejudice the same days: April 7th – April 12th. It makes me feel closer to her, remembering how she would laugh at Mr. Bennet, swoon over Mr. Bingley, and wish that Mr. Whickham wouldn’t have turned out so bad (I told you she was a total Jane!). It’s amazing how I can see her lying on the bed and reading favorite passages to me and when I read it, I feel like she’s reading it to me like she used to. She’s a big part of my love of reading and I owe her for that and so much more.
I probably won’t be around a whole lot this week. I have all my posts scheduled already, but you probably won’t hear from me on Twitter or replies to comments all week. I promise – I’ll be back after the 12th – I’ll finish the book, watch the movie (A&E version) and be smiling at my annual reunion by time it’s all done. To top it off, this year, I’ve added a 5k to finish off my week and I’m excited to run it in her memory.
I hope y’all have a great week!
