Sunday Post | 36th Edition

March 30, 2014 Sunday Post 22

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

This pas week was really great, but busy. The highlight was Friday and Saturday. Friday we celebrated my BF’s 40th birthday. We went to Joe’s Crab Shack and I had Snow Crab for the first time ever. It was a lot of work to get to the crab, but really yummy and a fun experience. And I got him a chair massager, since his job is so physically demanding. It’s pretty great and I think I’ll probably use it as much as he does LOL.

Then on Saturday I ran my first ever 5k, with my brother! It was a ton of fun, we got covered in colored dust, and finished with a decent time.

Of course, all this activity got me a bit behind, but I hope I’ll manage to get back on track by the end of the month. (Can you believe it’s already almost April?) I hope everyone had a great week too!

Almost a year ago one of my very good friends from Undergrad (Rebekah Karth Black) lost two younger sisters in a tragic car accident. Her mother, brother, and two sisters were traveling to Texas for her and another sister’s college graduation and Rebekah’s wedding (with her wedding dress, actually). I’ve included a video below that explain in more detail – but basically they where hit by a semi truck. And in honor of their lost family members, the Karth family has been doing research about how to make the roads safer. They have a petition that they will be presenting to the DOT at the end of April and they still need a few signatures. If you could spare a moment, please go sign it and help spread the word. These very simple measures could save more innocent lives.

Congratulations on the 5K, it is a great achievement and feels so good doesn’t it. I wouldn’t manage a run, but did a 10K walk once which felt great as well. Enjoy your books .

I’m not sure I could do a 10k yet, but I’m addicted to 5ks and determined to get to a point where I can actually run one from beginning to end 🙂

Joe’s Crab Shack was so much fun – my first time getting crab was such an adventure 🙂

So funny my husband and I were just talking about 5ks because they have one in Chicago where you run at night and they do all these lights. It’s some kind of Light run or glow run. I was like I can barely run one lap around a track, no way I would manage a 5k so you are absolutely awesome! Congrats!!

That’s awesome you posted the video about the petition too. Happy Sunday!

Thanks Jen! I didn’t run the whole thing, mind you – that’s a goal to be achieved some time in the distant future 😉

Congrats on running the race! Did you use the chair massager afterwords? 😉 I signed the petition and shared on FB. They’re so close to their mark. I hope they make it.

I’m looking forward to your review of Streets of Payne! *bounce bounce*

Thanks for signing Carol – they did make their goal and actually have already seen real results as a consequence of the petition! (See having actual updates is the one benefit of me answering comments months late!) And yes, I totally used the back massager (and I’m using it right now because I hurt my back this weekend!)
