Sunday Post | 30th Edition

February 9, 2014 Sunday Post 20

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

This week has been so COLD! I’m a Texan and I do NOT like the cold weather, so I’m a bit moody of late. Especially since I’m currently training for a 5k and have to go outside 3 x a week to do my walk/jogs. I was planning to spend a good part of my day yesterday inside reading, but things did not go as planned. We had a wee-bit of a fire. Not to be overly dramatic, but it was scary and quite a hassle. I woke up yesterday morning to my fire alarm going off and couldn’t figure out why. There was no fire that I cold see. But there was no denying that our apartment was quickly filling with smoke, and that ALL the fire alarms were going off. So, we got out of the apartment and had to call 911. As it turns out, when the maintenance staff had come two days earlier to fix our heater (which they hadn’t actually fixed BTW) they had put duct tape ON a heater coil! Who does that? Anyway that tape caught on fire and we had a little bit of a heater fire. Thankfully it didn’t spread! However, the fire department left everything taken apart because apartment maintenance had to come fix it. That was all over around 10 am and apartment maintenance didn’t show up until about 4 (despite frequent calls – I couldn’t even take a shower because of the mess!) Anyway, that pretty much ruined my Saturday and I hope to spend most the day today reading, though the place still kinda smells like smoke, so I may try to get out a bit. We’ll see.

As for the blog, don’t forget that signups are currently open for COYER in March! Get details and signup here. Also, we’ve got a couple hosts solidified, but if you’d like to host a mini challenge, just email me 🙂

Also I’m super excited about a feature that will hopefully be a monthly thing – it will be coming later this month. The feature – called “Was it good for you? – is going to be me, Michelle @ Because Reading and Reanna @ Phantasmic Reads talking and getting all excited (maybe even argumentative? who knows? lol) about a book we all read. I’m very excited about it – so be on the look outs for that later this month!

That’s it for me! Stay warm!

Yeah, you’ve been killing my book budget lately lol

Oooh scary! That’s so much more serious than my heater fire – I hope it never got too bad by you :/ Smart to be prepared!

That fire sounds a little crazy to me. Fires make me paranoid. The new feature sounds great. I need to come up with one! I just can’t think of anything….. sigh….

This one kind of came to all three of us in different pieces and we meshed it together. I’m looking forward to finally seeing it come together and hope it works 🙂

And yeah, the fire was scary, even though it wasn’t serious. It was the being blasted from my sleep to fire alarm and smoke that freaked me out most.

Hmmmm…some of those freebies look familiar. *puts finger on chin* LOL I missed your 2 identities post.Need to go check it out.

Sorry about the fire alarm and hassle. That is the exact reason I don’t sleep naked. TMI? lol

I’m thinking of doing a monthly feature called Monster Porn Monday where I review some of the monster porn I pick up for free on Amazon, but haven’t actually read yet. I just know it’ll be fun! *winks*

Hope this week is a good one!

LMAO – it’s funny because my BF sleeps in just his boxers and he was running around trying to put clothes on and I was like, “See, this is why I sleep in sweats.”

Oh you know I’ll be a fan on Monster Porn Monday 😉

Thanks Pamela. We had such a hard time finding a place and I have a feeling that we won’t be staying here when our lease is up. I so didn’t want to have to move again. I feel like a nomad!

I was. Now my fury has switched to the very unconcerned response from the apartment management. I had a FIRE and had to call 911, but they’re acting like I had a lightbulb go out with how concerned they are. Oh well, at least we didn’t get hurt or anything.

Thanks – 5k training is moving along pretty well. Better than I dreamed 🙂

I’m so thankful! Especially that the fire alarms worked so well, because I think we could have gotten pretty sick from smoke inhalation if they hadn’t woken us up when they did.

Me too! and I guess I’ll have to be much more careful from now on about trusting them to know what they’re doing. I like to think it was a momentary lapse rather than a typical method of repair…

LOL We tease all the time that anything can be fixed with duct tape and WD40, but this was definitely the exception. Thankfully the guy who came this time seemed to actually know what he was doing and not only is the heater actually working, but no sign of fire yet (fingers crossed). So scary though!

Oh me too! I accepted the review request before I even saw the cover and then I saw the cover and was that much more excited! Hope you’ve had a great week 🙂

I still can’t believe that happened. So scarey, so glad you are all safe. Hopefully you can relax today and read.

Is Texas NJ cold or you cold 😉 because my family in Florida always call and say it’s freezing here, when it’s 60 degrees and we laugh because it’s like 23 here lol

Can’t wait for you both to finish the book and we can chat about it. I had a few issues. We can talk or argue about 🙂

Again Awesome Haul! I just don’t know how you keep adding! I’m surprised Amazon hasn’t banned you yet lmao

Amazon probably has me on some sort of watch list or something the way I buy books! LOL! And yes, it was COLD. You’d probably even say it was COLD, though I’m sure you’ve had colder. Today (as I already bragged to you on the phone) was a beautiful 70 though 🙂
