The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.
Let’s see – this past week was a pretty hectic one. The moving of my step-son’s family continued yesterday and we’ve got a bit more today (I hope a bit at least). At home, this was my first week back to school. This semester is my first semester basically working from home. See, I’m done with my coursework, but I still have to take my exams in May (passing them will get me my Master’s) and then I have to write my dissertation (for my PhD). I have to admit, it was really hard to self-motivate. I think the problem is, I’m no longer doing this because I love History (though I do), but because I’ve invested too much time (thankfully I’m on a full fellowship, complete with living expenses, so not money) not to at least walk away with a Master’s degree. I just don’t feel like I belong in academia anymore – now that I really know it, I realize it’s not my thing. I love to teach, but that’s not academia. Academia (as I’ve experienced it) is pretentiousness and no-life outside of the job. So we’ll see how it goes. As it stands, I have over 200 books to read (skim really) and be prepared to discuss for my exams come May, plus two portfolio papers (publishable papers, basically) to edit. Imagine how much FUN reading I could do if I weren’t a grad student!
On the blog – if you didn’t notice already, signups for COYER in March are open! Yay! I’m super excited and we’ve made a few changes that we hope will make it even more fun. We’re still looking for hosts for mini- challenges, so please let us know if you’re interested. And I’m participating in my first ever bloggiesta this weekend. Admittedly, my time on the blog is less than I would have liked because of moving, but I still like I”m working harder than I would have without the challenge, so that’s something. Oh and I’m not sure if we’re spilling the beans yet, so I’ll keep this very vague, but myself, Michelle @ Because Reading is better than real life, and Reanna @ Phantasmic Reads are developing a new (hopefully) monthly feature for February that I’m so excited for. That’s all I’ll say for now ๐ ย That’s it for me – hope y’all had a great week and are keeping warm!

I really enjoyed this week’s Book Girls Don’t Cry post over at Xpresso Reads talking about the misunderstood 3 star rating. What does 3 stars mean to you? Did you like the book or was it disappointing if you give it three stars?
New Additions to My Shelf
This week I was naughty. I just couldn’t resist several of the titles out there and had to have them. Oops. ๐ And you won’t even see all the damage yet, because I couple were pre-orders! Ever go on a diet and not let yourself eat anything and then when you finally do you go a little crazy? That’s what happens when I put myself on a book diet (aka budget) it seems. I didn’t get as many books, but I spent a lot more $ than I usually do.
I have to give a big thank you to Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee for my win of An Endless Summer. And I already read Memory’s Wake on eBook, but it has such incredible pictures that I knew I had to have a physical copy. This is a signed copy from the author, Selena Fenech! So I’m thrilled to have my own ๐

White Trash Zombie was so good! I think you’ll like it. Bitter Spirits looks good; I want to read that one eventually.
Good luck with the last of the moving all your coursework and finishing up your degrees. It is a lot of work but even if you leave academia, I don’t think you’ll regret pursuing your degrees.

Oooh audible 3 for 2 credits? Cool! Good luck with the at-home coursework! I know how ill-disciplined I am. I’d probably write out my own syllabus. haha
I chose The Line, too, for my amazon freebie!
