Sunday Post | 26th Edition

January 12, 2014 Sunday Post 29

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

As I reported last week, we finally found an apartment and I’m so excited because we’ll be moving in on the 15th!!! Yay! And despite how cold it’s been here in Texas lately, the forecast is looking sunny – so double yay! I’ve been busy with details this week, like getting electricity setup and cable/internet. I’m bummed because the only options for cable/internet were Dish or Verizon. Both are more expensive than I’d like. Went with Verizon because at least I’ll get great quality for a rip-off price.

Another exciting thing – I’ve decided to do a 5k in March. I’m really excited about it, it’s one of those things I’ve always wanted to do but always felt that I wasn’t fit enough. Well, I suddenly realized (in large part thanks to the Book Blog Walkers Challenge – which is now an all year event, BTW!!) that I am fit enough to train for a 5k. So yep, I’m doing it!

I also spent some time on Thursday setting up a calendar like the one Kimba described in her Blogger Tips & Tricks post earlier this month. There’s an awful lot of yellow on the calendar right now (which if you’ve read the post you know means unwritten posts) but at least I have a clear picture. I’m not doing any book requesting or anything until I get that to a better place. It feels good to finally have an organization system that feels like it will work (especially after so many that haven’t!).

That’s it for me – I hope y’all have had a great week!

Blogosphere Fun

There’s going to be a live, joint conversation between Kim Harrison, Jeaniene Frost , and Gwen Reyes of Fresh Fiction (the host) on February 13th!! Squee! The best part is that they’ve opened up the system already so we can register ahead of time  to listen in! For all the details and to register go to Booktalk Nation.

Carmel @ Rabid Reads asks “Is It Still a Romance Book Without a HEA?” – check out the fun discussion and add your two cents!

I’m loving Pamela’s Thoughtful Thursdays feature and this week she raised a question that’s really been on my mind a lot lately when I look at my TBR…. Are you a series completionist? Do we HAVE to read every book, novella and short story in a series?

New Additions to My Shelf

I’m really proud of myself for how well I’m doing sticking to my goal to not spend too much on books this year (yes, I realize it’s only the 12th…)! Naomi @ Paranormal Palace did an incredible job helping me this week, since I won her New Years Giveaway. So a huge thanks to Naomi!!

You bet! I agree – it’s very challenging to get ahead, but I’m really loving seeing the colors turn to blue!

Gaw cable is hard to pay for. Such a rip off no matter where you go. I will say though I heard after you have been with a company for a while to call and they’ll give you a new deal and I did and saved like $50 a month (my phone and direct tv are bundled). Amazing!!!

Sweet! I’ll definitely keep that in mind! I really don’t need cable, since I watch almost everything via the internet (that I watch, which isn’t much) but to have internet it’s pretty expensive if I don’t bundle with cable. So complicated!

Thanks Naomi, I’m seriously looking forward to digging into those books. And I already spent the gift card LOL 🙂

Nice wrap up to the week and liked your discussion post on how to follow blogs. Congrats on the apt. too! Have a great week!

Thanks so much Greg! Sorry I’m so late in answering, things have gotten very behind over here. Hope you had a great week!

Sa-weet win! Congrats! I also started using Google calendar and for the most part I’m digging it. There is something about it I don’t like and I may need to message Kimba and ask her about it. Plus, I just had to be different and picked other colors for the various stages. lol I also have an uncontrollable urge to have a physical planner in my hand and thanks to a FB friend she sent me one she had picked up from Lora Leigh. Perfect! 🙂

I also love having a physical planner, but I do that for school, so this is okay. I used Kimba’s colors because… well I guess because I’m so type A that I feel there are rules even when there aren’t LOL. I’m curious what you aren’t liking – makes me wonder if I missed something and it’s going to be a problem for me later too. Hope you had a great week! 🙂

I don’t like how I can’t see the books I have listed for that day unless I open up the event in edit mode. When I look at the month view I want to be able to see what books are on which day. I guess I could stick them in the weekly view, but I don’t like how the daily has times. I’m just picky. lol I use my monthly planner that has lines for me to write the book titles on each day. I can see them at a glance.

Hmm when I’m in month view I can see the book title. I make them all day events and just put the book title for the event name. I guess maybe we’re doing something differently?

          • A Voracious Reader

Most days I have more than one book and I found on the monthly view it truncates the title, so I title my event things like TTT for Time Turner Tuesday or FFS for Friday Featured Spotlight or just Tour. If I’m just reviewing one book for no specific feature I put the title, but that’s it.

I’ve managed to stay away for over a month now, can you believe it? I feel like I should be getting a pin or something! But that’s only because I’m so backed up I just have to stop and catch up! There’s always COYER LOL

I sure did, now to MAKE time to read it! And my calendar is starting to have almost a week of blue at a time. Before I know it, there will be weeks! Yay!

Thanks! I haven’t actually started the Samantha Young series, but the reviews for Before Jamaica Lane were too good to not pick it up, especially once I found out it could be read as a stand alone! Now I just need time to read it!

YAY!!! Congrats on the Win! Those look like awesome reads!
So glad you found and apartment! Once you are all settled in we need a night to chat, it’s been so long.

i need so bad to get organized, Maybe I will have to look over Kimba’s Tip and tricks I am so bad at the moment. I want to do a few challenges but I am worried I won be able to keep up. My method works but I am getting to laid back with it. I just might use iCal on my ipad since it links to my phone and computer.

I promise after this month on more reviews or maybe just one a month. I totally screwed up this month :/ of well.

Have a great week!!! Talk to you soon
My post will be up later, I’m still typing it lol 🙂

I’ve tried having a calendar on Google before, but I didn’t have a good system. This so much better! Hope you had a great week 🙂 (I’m so behind on comments)

I put a hold on review requests since October I think.. I am still trying to catch up! Good luck and best of luck for 2014 🙂
