Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? | Fun Questions

January 4, 2014 Fun Questions 8

Join me every Saturday as I ask a Fun Question that’s been on my mind. I’ll give you my take, but I really hope you’ll jump in with your answers too, since I’m really curious to know what my fellow readers and bloggers think! So today’s question is…

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions?

Happy 2014 everyone! With the New Year, many of us are making resolutions to make the 2014 better than 2013 and I’m semi on that bandwagon. Although some really great things happened in 2013, overall it was a trying year. So I’m looking forward to 2014 being better and really hope it will be. I do have several goals for my life – but I wouldn’t say that I wasn’t already working on them in 2013 or that I turned over a new leaf in 2014. For example, I’ve been eating really healthy and working out regularly for more than a year. That is still my goal in 2014, but it’s not really a New Year’s Resolution.

The blog is kind of a different story though. I took a bit of a blog break in December – mainly because life’s demands were way too high – and it gave me a chance to make January a kind of reset. So I have goals for the blog and I guess they are kind of New Year’s Resolutions, since I tried to put them into place as of January 1.

My 2014 Blog Resolutions:

  1. Have posts written a full month in advance. (I’m already failing at this one and it may just not be in my blog personality)
  2. Answer all comments within 1 week.
  3. Visit my favorite blogs and comment on them at least 2 times a week. (I’d like to do more, but this is a reasonable goal)
  4. Get my Netgalley ratio up to 80% and keep it there.
  5. Get caught up on all review request books and not accept more than 1 to be read in any given month.
  6. Get back on Twitter (not just through Triberr, but socially)
  7. Use Triberr daily (I was doing this until December, so I just want to get back into that habit)
  8. Don’t accept more than 1 blog tour a month, 1 cover reveal or blitz a week.
  9. Keep a book budget and stick to it! (This never used to be a problem, but now I find books and buy them non-stop)
  10. KEEP BLOGGING FUN! I don’t want to get stressed out about the blog. It’s so much fun and so rewarding, so I will not lot it ever feel like work!

As part of my goals for 2014, I’ve come up with a new schedule for the blog. Not a whole lot is changing, but for those of you who have favorite features (or who are new followers) here’s my new schedule. I’m cutting back on reviews from 3x a week to 2x a week, because I just can’t keep up the pace.

Sundays

Sunday Post

Mondays

While I’m Reading (WIR)*moved from Thursdays

Tuesdays

Alternating between Teaser Tuesday and Top off Tuesday

Wednesdays

Audio Reviews *I’ve decided that I want to have 1 day a week dedicated to my love of audio

Thursdays

Life of a Blogger

Fridays

Book Reviews *this includes shorts or novellas

Saturdays

Fun Questions

Final Day of the Month

Pinching Pennies *time to get responsible about my book spending

DNFs for the month

So I’ve made a few changes in 2014 on the blog, but not a whole lot. Mostly, I just want to keep doing what I’ve been doing & make it better if possible.

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? What are your blog goals for 2014?

Have posts written a full month in advance!! WHAT! Man I write mine the night before MAYBE! LOL! I do agree though about keeping blogging fun. Sometimes I do feel the need to post everyday lately and that’s just crazy. Who cares if it’s only once or twice a week?? Yeesh!

I have resolutions, but I don’t actually write them down or chip them into stone tablets or anything. I wanted to take a break in December to get a bunch of stuff drafted and queued, but then I had turned around and decided to do a 12 Days of a Kensington Christmas and just like that, behind again. *groan* I guess it’s just in my nature to not have a lot in the stash. *sigh*

*HAHAHAHAHAHA* Funny question, Berls. *haha* Well, you know how I am with blog challenges, so I think you know my answer to this question. *ha* No, I don’t make resolutions. But I do like the idea of have a new year to attempt things I wanted to do the previous year but didn’t get around to.

My blog goals are simple this year – reduce and relax! *ha* JK well, sort of. I do plan to reduce the number of blog tours/promos, etc. I participate in. What I really want to do is read more of what I want to read when I want to read it. And I want to interact more with bloggers. 🙂

I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions, because to me they scream “procrastination” and “failure.” I know a lot of people look at the new year as a fresh slate and a way to start over, but I don’t. If I really wanted to do something, I’d start working on it as soon I was able, and not wait until the New Year. But I do have some blogging goals, which I already started working on late last year…

    1) Comment on other blogs more: This is kind of hard, since I’m naturally not that talkative and can’t always think of something interesting to say.
    2) Reply to my comments right away: I’ve been doing good at this. Instead of reading it and thinking “Oh, I’ll respond later” and then forgetting, I do it immediately.
    3) Get my Netgalley ratio up to 80% and keep it there! I actually just threw all of my ARCs on to my calendar to see how long it’ll take me…at least through October. Uh oh.

And I think that may be it…

I also had a hope of being a month ahead on post but I think I am like you in not a me thing 🙂 I do want to set up features I personally do ahead of time like My To-Be Read list but other stuff might just have to be a week or a couple days before.

I love your blog resolutions I am posting mine on Monday since I am always a week late on everything Lol

Ugh Netgalley, I am totally with you, I think COYER will help me with that but I also want to try and dedicate twice a month to physical books since I have so many I tend to read all my ebooks and my actual books are collecting dust.

My biggest resolution for this year…More reviews and original content.
I have some ideas that I think will work, now I just need to stop thinking of them and actually write them down, but by the time I sit to lay it all out I forgot what I thought of lol

Of course my favorite and the biggest thing I think we all tend to forget is HAVE FUN!!! It’s way we all started doing this in the first place 🙂
