Life of a Blogger is a weekly meme hosted by Jessi @ Novel Heartbeat. Each week Jessi chooses a topic (scheduled in advance) that’s not book related so we that we can get to know our fellow bloggers better – and to know more about them than just books. I’m thrilled to join in and I hope to participate every week from here on out. I hope you’ll join in too – check out the details here!
This week’s topic: Non-bookish hobbies
Not to be incredibly boring but I don’t have a whole lot of non-bookish hobbies. I don’t have a ton of free time and it’s pretty dominated by reading, writing, and blogging. However, I do love to play video games. I don’t play them often because I don’t have a great amount of self-control when it comes to games. I want to finish them once I begin them and pretty much shut down once I start. I’ve been known to play a video game from start to finish in one week – stopping only to eat, sleep a few hours, and use the restroom. No showers. No getting dressed. It’s THAT bad. Which is why I don’t allow myself to play them unless I’m on a school break. Some favorites include:
The one exception to that rule is for the Sims. I’m a reformed Sims addict. In that I used to be just as bad with the Sims as with all video games, but now I can sit down every few weeks and play for a few hours and then not touch it again for several more weeks. If you haven’t played, you probably don’t get what’s so addicting about this game, but there’s something incredibly fun about playing out an ideal life or the life you’d never let yourself have because it’s dangerous, rebellious, or whatever. I currently own almost all the Sims 3 expansions and I’m keeping my eyes on the details about Sims 4 to see if I’ll be buying it.
Ultimately though, the XBOX 360 is off limits most the time and I often would rather read, write, or blog than play the Sims. So I’m a bit boring – I don’t spend much free time on anything besides bookish hobbies. Oh well, I guess I’m lucky to know what I love! What are your non-bookish hobbies?
