Book Blog Walkers Check-in 4

Now that moving is finally over I’m getting back to a regular routine with my workouts. My apartment doesn’t have a fitness facility, so I’m taking my C25K outside. I think that’s best, since the 5k I’m doing in March will obviously be outside too. But I discovered that running outside is a little bit harder – on the joints and in general. So I quickly decided to restart the C25K outside (which I did on Wednesday) and to buy some new running shoes.

Thankfully I have more than 9 weeks before the 5K I signed up for, so I should still be ready for it. And hopefully the shoes will make it a little easier on the joints. I bought them Wednesday and will be officially trying them out for the first time today. Aren’t they nice? I did a bunch of research before picking them out, even though I went against what all the experts said and bought them on sale. Sorry, but I can’t afford the shoes they recommend. These have all the qualities I was supposed to be looking for (I think).

Besides that I just decided to have a little fun with my days in-between C25K days and played fitness games on the Kinect. I won’t be doing the Kinect Adventures again, because it wasn’t a good enough workout. But Dance Central is pretty great. I’m also thinking of checking out Zumba.

I also felt like I need to start doing some sort of toning, so I did some searching on Amazon Prime and discovered that Jillian Michaels has a Cowbell program on there (so free!). I don’t have a Cowbell, but she shows how to do it with a dumbbell which I do have, and it was a good workout. I’m considering getting a cowbell just the same, since I think it would make it a bit of a better workout – especially since my dumbbell is only 3 pounds and maybe a bit too light.

Day 20 (Mon): 30 minutes Dance Central

Day 21 (Tues): 30 minutes Kinect Adventures

Day 22 (Wed): 30 minutes C25K walk/jog

Day 23 (Thurs): 30 minutes Jillian Michaels Shred-It With Weights

    OH yeah…. outside is way harder on the joints. Who know? Well probably athletic people know… but I didn’t until my 5k. Love your shoes. Growing up I loved Fila brand so much that I named my high school cat Fila. Fila just passed away last year and was 17 years old! My sister is using the Jillian Michael videos that are free on youtube. The Shred It is the one I think she is using too, but not the one with weights.
