Sunday Post | 13th Edition

October 6, 2013 Sunday Post 26

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Basically it’s a chance to talk about the books you bought, borrowed, blogged about, and read for the week and what’s coming in the week ahead – and then share them with a much wider blogging community. Check out the details here.

Last week was insane! Last Friday (the 27th) I started feeling a little under the weather with a sore throat and as the week progressed I started waking up every day feeling a little bit worse – cough, chest congestion, runny nose, dizzy spells – until I finally decided enough was enough and went to the doctor Friday morning. I’m someone who hates to go to the doctor and feels silly going for what seems little more than a simple cold, so I put it off. But I just was getting so behind with everything because I felt like shit, so I went. And I’m glad I did. The doctor immediately concluded that I had bronchitis, but she also wanted to have a nurse walk me to test my oxygen levels and then take a chest xray. The result? I also have pneumonia. Yep – I went just in time! The pneumonia is only in my right lung, so with my meds I should be better by the end of the week. But the meds are making me so drowsy. I slept all afternoon Friday and most the day Saturday. Which means – yep, you guessed it – I’m even further behind!

That being said, I managed to keep my blog running, thanks mainly to scheduled posts and mostly written posts. This week was the start of the Something Wicked Blog Hop (running all month) and also the Fraterfest Read-a-thon running through the 8th (and I’m hosting a challenge!). I did not however get any posts for next week written (I’m writing this at 11:41 Saturday night, which is very late for me) so I don’t really know what next week’s going to look like. I’ll post my planned schedule, but bear with me as I try to recover. Hope everyone’s had a wonderful start to October!

Oh and I almost forgot!! On the 9th – so Wednesday – my blog will be 3 months old! I may have said that it was 3 months old last month (I thought it was) but I realized that I started my 3rd month in September, not finished it!! LOL so for reals this time. So can I just share some stats that have me feeling incredibly excited?

Needless to say that’s so much more support than I ever dreamed I’d find! I started this blog thinking it would be fun and if I was lucky my mom and brother would read it from time to time. Instead I’ve met so many great people and become a total blog addict. Thank you all for being so welcoming! Looking forward to many more months (and years!) getting to know everyone better!

Oh no, sorry to hear you’re under the weather 🙁 Rest up! I wish I were more ahead, this being sick wouldn’t be the issue that it is if I were. Good luck getting posts scheduled and getting better.

Thanks Jennnifer! Yeah, getting sick is never fun. I’m just glad I got to the doctor before it got too bad.

Thanks! Me too 🙂 This week will possibly be hit and miss, as I have nothing scheduled in advance. I’ll be working on posts the day before at best, so we’ll see…

Thanks Greg! I’m hoping to kick this quick – I don’t have time to be sick! And thanks so much, I’m glad you like my blog – I feel like it’s my right arm some days LOL

I hope you feel better soon! My mom got sick a few years back and, like you, put off going to the doctor until it became too much and she went the the ER. Not only did she have pneumonia but she had to be hospitalized for a bit because of it. Pneumonia has freaked me out a bit ever since.

Also, congratulations on three months of blogging!

Yikes! I’m so glad I made it to the doctor before it got that serious. I’ve seen pneumonia get really bad, although never for me personally (thank goodness).

Thanks – I can’t believe it’s already been 3 months and at the same time I can’t believe it’s only been 3 months. I still feel like such a newbie, and yet my blog feels like such a big part of me, it’s hard to believe I haven’t always had it!

So glad you made it the Dr in time. I’m also like that, not wanting to go and be a bother over something I should be able to kick. I came down with some respiratory thing on New Year’s Eve and waited until mid-Feb before I went when I wasn’t getting any better and sounding more and more like Darth Vader every day. My problem was asthmatic bronchitis. Apparently since I’ve never had asthma or bronchitis my body decided it was time I needed both at the same time. lol It was another few weeks before I felt myself again. So let the meds do their thing and before you know it’ll be off and running again. 🙂

LOL you sound like me – I forget who it was, but someone told me I was quite the overachiever, not satisified with just one bad bug, I had to go for two. I guess you also like to overachieve LOL. Seriously though, why is it that I literally felt a bit embarrassed for going to the doctor because I probably just had a little cold? Must something seriously be wrong for us to go to the doctor? Thankfully I have a great doctor who not only took my “little” cough seriously (which obviously it wasn’t), but told me that even if I only had a cold it was best that I came in. Here’s hoping the meds work quickly – this falling asleep every few hours and then staying asleep for hours is for the birds! 🙂

Thanks Jan! It’s definitely doing a good job knocking me out, so hopefully that’s a good sign. And here’s hoping I’ll be blogging for many more months 🙂

congrats on 3 months! I barely knew what my stats were at that point- but it’s fun to see the support!!
I hope you feel better – there is certainly something running around!

Thanks Gaele! I don’t pay a lot of attention to my stats, since I’ve always been determined that the blog would be for fun and closely monitoring stats could kill that. But with three months coming up I decided to check and though I have no idea what they mean in relation to other blogs, I do know that it means people actually read my blog, so I’m thrilled LOL

There is nothing fun about severe lung infections. I had one when I was at college and it was hellish. Every time I coughed I felt as if my ribs were going to explode out of my body. Hope you get well soon.

Thanks – I couldn’t agree more, lung infections are the pits. Thankfully it’s just my right lung and I caught it before it got too horrible, so hopefully I’ll be back to myself later this week. I’ve spent the entire weekend pretty much sleeping – other than that I’ve been drinking tons of fluids, reading, blogging, and sleeping some more 🙂

  5. Vilia

I was sick too but luckily not as seriously as you. I’m interested to see what you thought of Molly Harper’s book – I really enjoy that series.

I’m glad it wasn’t too serious. Thankfully I caught this before it got too bad as well – I’ve done a lot of resting this weekend, so hopefully I’ll back to normal this week!

I just finished writing that book review for tomorrow. I enjoyed it – a very feel good book 🙂

Thanks! It does seem that way, I’d say something must be going around but I doubt many of us live in the same areas. I hope everyone gets to feeling better soon.
