Feature & Follow | #6

August 15, 2013 Feature & Folow Friday 35

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly bloghop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. I participated last week and discovered a lot of great blogs, so I’m really looking forward to doing the same this week!

Parajunkee and Alison Can read each feature a blog- this week check outΒ Thoughts and Pens andΒ No Bent Spines– and pose a question/activity for each blogger that participates to answer/do. Then we all hop around checking out as many participant blogs as we like, finding great new blogs and forming blogger friendships.

This Week’s Question:

Share something you’ve learned about book blogging or just blogging in general in the last month.
What haven’t I learned? See my blog is just over a month old, so everything I know I’ve learned in the past month. But if I’m going to pick one thing it would be the importance of keeping a calendar and having posts written (and scheduled!) ahead of time. Too much happens during the day to try and publish posts as you go or to remember what you had planned for the day.
It’s challenging to get ahead, something I’m still working on, but once I get there I think my blog will be so much easier to manage. I’m trying to get ahead before school starts, because if I don’t, my blog will have to seriously decline and I really don’t want that. This of course also fits in really well with my Type A personality. I’m obsessively scheduled generally speaking, so why wouldn’t I think my blog needs to be?

What have you learned?

I’m really looking forward to reading these posts since I still have so much to learn.

If only I could master getting ahead! But even just keeping up, my calendar is my life saver πŸ™‚

I think it should make things easier, but it’s incredibly difficult to get ahead! My current goal is to get a week ahead and so far I haven’t quite managed it. I’m getting closer though, so hopefully soon. And then the trick will be to stay ahead…

Thanks for stopping by. Happy reading!

I can see how that could be more fun, if I weren’t so OCD about scheduling everything I do. I think I would get too anxious without my schedules, but I think it would be awesome to be able to be so relaxed about it!

That’s so true Johannah! I’m still learning so much all the time and trying to work out exactly the feel I want my blog to have. But I’m loving every minute and dreading going back to school, when my blog will have to take a more secondary place than it has been lately.

Thanks for stopping by and happy reading πŸ™‚

Thanks lol! I read other blogs for a long while before I dove in and started my own (I was that silent reader that you don’t know about, b/c I didn’t get into commenting until I had a blog), so my type A personality combined with some time reading more experienced bloggers definitely helped me speed that progress up. Thanks so much for stopping by!

I agree so much on the scheduling! It’s so much more important than I thought at first, and now it’s awesome. I can clear time in my schedule for when I know I’ll be busy just by reading and scheduling posts in advance.

And your blog is so pretty for being so new! You did a great job.

I just started following you on bloglovin’.

Thanks so much – my brother is a graphic design student and I’ve recruited him, otherwise it would not be so pretty lol πŸ™‚ I’m still trying to get into the hang of scheduling. From reading everyone’s F&F I think I’ve realized that I’m probably trying to do to much everyday and may need to mellow out if I don’t want to get super tired. That will probably help me with getting ahead too.

      Thanks for following!

Thanks so much! I’m super lucky to have a little brother going to school for graphic design, as I could not design this myself nor could I afford someone who could! The calendar took me a while to get into and I’m still working on scheduling posts, but it is so critical for me. Without it, I’d be so haphazard on here (sometimes I still feel like I am)!

      Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

LOL I wish I explain that to my brother, who is also definitely not a type A personality, but he doesn’t seem to want to embrace a calendar. I love the calendar on my WP… I don’t know if it came with a plugin or my theme (I’m still getting used to WP) but it keeps things pretty organized for me so far.

I’m impressed you learned this in your first month! πŸ˜‰ It took my considerably longer. LOL This is great advice though, as having posts done ahead of time, keeping a calendar, etc., can really make a difference in your blogging success. Thanks for sharing! And happy Friday! πŸ™‚

So far most my posts are scheduled but not written ahead of time – there’s just so much to keep up with; there’s something to be said for spontaneous blogging too!

I agree. I try to do my posts ahead of schedule but it took me a while to learn the benefits of that.

In a perfect world I’d be at least a week ahead, but it’s really hard to get everything put together. It took me a while to figure out and it’s taking me even longer to put into practice!

Thanks for following! Have a great weekend πŸ™‚

Hi Berls, welcome to the blogging world! Yes, I sooo agree with you. Cuing up posts ahead of time is a life-saver. It prevents me from worrying too much about my blog getting dormant or something.

And your blog is way too cool for a baby blog. <3

Thanks for stopping by my FF!

Thanks Charlotte, I really appreciate that πŸ™‚ My brother has really helped me get it up and going (he’s a graphic design student), without his help it would not look near as good.

Thanks for following! Happy reading πŸ™‚
