Berls’s 15 Day Blogger Challenge | Day One

July 10, 2013 Challenges & Readathons 0

I was checking out one of my favorite blogs, Parajunkee, and saw this challenge – I thought what a great way to start this blog off! It’s hosted by “Good Books, Good Wine

Day 1: Make 15 Book Relates Confessions
  1. I hate to pay more than $5 for a book. If I can’t find it at the library, Half Price Books, or on sale then I’ll probably wait to read it until I can.
  2. Number 1 is void for New Releases in any of my favorite series. Then I just can’t wait.
  3. I always have two books going at once – an audiobook and a book to read (e-book or hard copy). I say that one is for reading at home and the audios are for when I’m out and about, but sometimes an audiobook sucks me in and I lay in bed just listening for hours.
  4. I resisted using e-books because I really love the feel of a real book until this past year, when I discovered free Kindle Books and that I could check out e-books from the library (see #1).
  5. I also resisted audio books until this last year because I thought I wouldn’t like the narrators. I’m still extremely picky about narrators though – I firmly believe they can ruin a good book.
  6. In fact, I’ve been known to return an audible book just because of the narrator. Gotta save those credits for the good ones (again, see #1)!
  7. I’m addicted to series. Just about every book I’ve read and plan to read belongs to a series.
  8. Once I start on a series I seldom read anything else until I’m current on that series. It’s rare, but if I get burnt out, I’ll move to another series (see #7) and pick it up again once I finish that one.
  9. When a New Release for one of my favorite series is coming up I gear up by rereading the whole series or, if it’s one of the longer ones, by reading the last few. I want to enjoy the full effect of the book by remembering all the details that led up to it.
  10. I don’t own a bookshelf. I used to, but I’ve moved so much recently that it’s just too much work to box up all my books over and over. I should be in a fairly permanent home come January, and then I’ll by a book shelf. Until then, my books are in boxes.
  11. When I had a bookshelf, I kept all my books organized alphabetically by author. Now they’re in their boxes by the same method. Maybe a little OCD, but sure makes them easier to find!
  12. I really am a bit sexist in my reading choices. I just really like the POV to be female and the hero to be 100% hunky male. I’ve ventured out a couple times, but it hasn’t gone great
